Time Travel

1. The 63s didn't all disappear at once, nor are they all in some mysterious place. They disappear one at a time and appear instantly in the future. The scene from the pilot where the empty prison is discovered hasn't really happened yet and probably happen in last episode, if it gets that far.
2. Paraminder Nagra is from the present. Wouldn't suprise me if Sam Neill didn't send her back to 1960. When she meets the young Sam Neill in 1960 he is meeting her for the first time, but she has already known him from the present.
3. At some point the pretty lady cop will end up back in 1960-63. Probably season cliffhanger.
4. Some of the 63s who seem to be on a mission, like safe deposit guy, were supposed to return to past but got caught instead. He was supposed to get the key and bring it back to 1960.

Really liked this episode. I wonder if it's not time travel but some sort of suspended animation that's going on with the 63's.

Oh and, despite her wardrobe, Juggs certainly looked like she was making sure she kept her nickname.

This show was never on the line for me, but after this episode I'm really hooked up. Like, I can't wait to see what happens next.

Good job guys!

She filled out that sweater rather nicely.

These cops are constantly being outsmarted by these criminals who have no knowledge of the world. Like an average of over twice an episode I'm yelling "Shoot him!" at the screen but I know they won't because it's 9:20 and they are incompetent.

You'd think the 63'ers would be pretty amazed by things in 2012. Like he takes Dr. Grant's cell phone. You'd think he'd just forget everything else and start playing Angry Birds or something.

Ouch! This show's taken a hit in the ratings the last few weeks. Only a 1.9 in the 18-54 demo last night, 6.2 overall.
While I haven't watched last night's episode yet, I've been thinking I might be done after the season finale. Just not enough to get me excited to watch it every week. We'll see how it goes the rest of the way.

On a different note, I have to that after 6 weeks, Juggs is still being used to refer to Sarah Jones' character in this forum.

at the Pilot thread. Someone bumped it and a few posters have articulated their boredom and disgust for the show.

I'm out of town right now, but I might watch this episode on Hulu later tonight. Sounds like the consensus was that it was good.

I think it's better to put those opinions in the pilot thread. I mean if after 6 episodes you are still watching...

Re: Alcatraz -- "Paxton Petty" -- 2/13/12

Juggs was definitely more "juggy" in this episode. How bout a road trip episode a couple hundred miles south to track down a criminal surfer? We need to see Juggs in a bikini to really know for sure if the nickname should stick. And no I don't want to see Hurley with his shirt off.

Good episode. Some questions answered but more brought up too.

And once again, why would the super secret team just happen to show up to the original crime scene? How many crimes happen in San Francisco every day? Do they bop into every crime scene just to see if maybe a 63 did it? I don't think they knew it was landmines until they actually got there. So, they just wander into the crime scene, Hurley and Dr Grant see landmines and say "oooh Paxton Petty!" and we're off. Aren't they eventually going to run out obvious criminal activities that the 63's were known for? Eventually they'll stumble across a stabbing and Hurley will go "Hmm...3 stab wounds in the chest with a hunting knife...that sounds like Billy Baroo."

You would make a much better writer for this show than what Fox intends for it. Interesting ideas that are infinitely better than what we will likely get from this show.

Re: Alcatraz -- "Paxton Petty" -- 2/13/12

Watched this on Hulu today in my hotel room.

Pretty good episode. The mine sequence in the beginning was pretty crazy and graphic.

I agree with Rw. I too think that Emerson sent Lucy back to 1960 and meet his younger self. With what type of technology? We still don't know yet. I don't think we really know what Lucy's objective was. Was she there to assist locating what called the disappearances? I'm also wondering if Beaurigard may have also been sent back by Emerson.

I know Mehcad Brooks from playing TK on Necessary Roughness. He's an annoying piece of shit on that show, so I was happy to see him killed by the mine. I guess that was a secondary trigger?

After 6 weeks I'm still waiting to find out who forum thinks is Mother, and who the forum thinks is Speed.

Also wondering if the cop's grandfather has made a round trip from 1960 to 2012 and back. The infirmary scenes with him in the bed next to inmate of the week, he may have been to 2012 already.

The villians, whoever they may be, could be sending the psychos to 2012 just to keep the good guys occupied, distracting them.

Also, the flashbacks are all 1960. What's going on in 1961 and 62?

There have been flashbacks before and after 1960.

I'm enjoying this show, but I can't help but wonder why the writer's feel the need to dumb down everything?
It's like the characters are constantly thinking out loud to explain what they are doing, and why they're doing it.

"I'm wiping my finger through this paint to see if it's wet.
The paint is indeed wet.
That means our guy was here not long ago.
If we hurry, perhaps we can catch him."

This was a better episode than I was expecting. I haven't seen the bomb guy in anything else, sonos was hoping he'd stay around. I think him, and the doctor, are he only two modern day people we've had much interaction with.

I hope Hurley starts doing some digging to find out what's up with Paxton's comment about female doctor being on the island in the 60s.

I've also noticed that all flashbacks are 1960, not 61-63. I wonder if we'll get a 63 as a tease at the end of the season.

They need a lot of viewers the first season to survive. No show like this has survived past the first season since Lost.

(I know, I know, there must be one there, but we probably don't want to talk about it)

Fringe survived four seasons after Lost. It's the closest comp to Alcatraz.
