I thought this was decent enough to tune in again next week. 6 more episodes isn't much of a commitment to see how it plays out.

To be fair, is there any night of the week that isn't jam-packed for you?

True.....I would say Saturday. I'll say this, if the show is scripted and doesn't involve dating, weight loss or stupid guidos from Jersey, I'll check it out.

I over-extend the amount of stuff I watch/record by alot, but I never have nothing to watch when I'm not working or doing other things.

So no The Biggest Jersey Shore Bachelor for you? Even if it was on Saturday?

A few cringeworthy moments for me and the actor playing the grown-up son should never have gotten past the audition process... but overall I liked it enough to keep watching. Like many have said it is only 6 more and I am intrigued to find out what really is happening. I can't see this going into next season either.

Me too. It's not great, but there's nothing else on that I watch Tuesdays in this timeslot except the occasional "Frontline". I agree with most of the criticisms here, so I won't be heartbroken if it gets yanked before they show them all. The shakycam thing is beyond worn-out for me, though, so I may not hang in there for all 8.

I thought it was decent. And as far as supernatural shows go, it was far better than Alcatraz or anything Supernatural has done this season.

I'm on board for this more than I was for Terra Nova.

The mother annoyed the crap out of me. I was hoping she would drown. And her yelling early on in the episode was definitely the worst part of the premiere.

So was the missing dad having an affair with the blonde girl? That's the impression I got.

I think we're supposed to think that but I don't think so. I'm fairly certain Teri Bauer had an affair with that Cam dude though.

Re: The River -- 2 Hour Premiere -- "Pilot/Marbeley" -- 2/07/12

I struggled to make it through the two episodes and I love horror stories. The leading character, the adult son, is played by possibly the worst dinner theater actor I have seen on network television if you discount soap operas. The whole thing felt like the bastard child of Lost and some faux reality horror shlock like Paranormal Activity.

It's trash like The River that reminds one why Lost was so special for five seasons. I give ABC credit for giving us something different than another procedural, but too many elements of the production were simply too amateurish to continue watching.

Oh man.. Episode 2 is a BUMMER.... The concept and the story of the dolls where copied from Sci Fi Channel's Destination Truth - Season 3 Episode 2 - Island of Dolls (No Originality!)

At least they did not kill the black guy first.... I'm still trying to figure out who else is cannon fodder on the boat? I'm going to guess the mechanic being his daughter can still just fix stuff that breaks on the boat.. then maybe the slimy director guy?

Most of the characters already seem like they are key players and "safe" from being in too much danger..

Re: The River -- 2 Hour Premiere -- "Pilot/Marbeley" -- 2/07/12

Sucker for stories involving mysteries of the Amazon...but from the 'coming soon' doesn't look like the Amazon is responsible for the mysteries. Couldn't get past the fact that the son looks like a young, meth-y Steven Weber (I even googled to see if it was his kid, turns out no). I'll probably DVR the season but watch while I fold laundry or something.

The blonde (who I don't think is schtupping the father) seems a little too knowledgeable - makes me wonder if she's part of a plot to get all these people to experience 'something' that will make great TV. She seems to have an answer or story for everything that comes up. Just a weird vibe she's giving me.

Actually I don't think they're playing the doc style-filming enough, but that's my own taste. Without that it's more like "Lost" set on a river. I don't like watching scenes play in real time, just make the whole thing pure "footage." They're trying to hard to walk down the middle on two styles of film making.

In the first parts it was made to seem like that, but when it was revealed that she has THE MARK, in the final moments of episode 2, I got the impression more that she was the special 'chosen one' or whatever and that's why they were close and he was relying on her so much...nothing sexual IMO.

I liked this a lot better than many of the posters here, but I was surprised they jumped right into the full-on supernatural stuff so quickly... I figured they'd tease it here and there. This sort of feels like 'Lost for impatient people'. I can't see them getting a long run out of this, but I'll probably stick around for the next six unless it gets a cancellation order.

to be fair, me yelling "bloody mary" at the mirror three times is better than anything Supernatural has done this season.
