Re: Touch -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/25/12
I was thinking more about why I didn't like this show. I didn't think it was awful, I was just bored. I came to two conclusions:
1. It's not Jack Bauer. Of course not. I like 24 so much, I can't shake the Kiefer Sutherland badass image.
2. After LOST and Flashforward, I'm getting tired of the "everybody is connected, but doesn't know it" premise. I enjoyed those shows, but not really interested in another show with this theme.
Now I could be wrong about both points, since I only watched 30 minutes, but it was 30 minutes of boredom for me. I wish Kiefer all the best though, so I hope this series does well for him.

Let's see if I got this straight.
Because a kid knows the Fibonacci sequence, he knows that firefighter #318 will need to be interrupted from a phone call made at 3:18 on 3/18 in order to save a bus full of kids from school district 318. Okaaay...

I think Danny Glover's character gave the Fibonacci sequence as just one example of a pattern that is found all around us. My take was that the kid discovered a a different pattern centered around 318 and the lottery numbers. And in future episodes, he'll presumably discover new and different patterns in numbers he is writing down that will lead to other situations that need to be prevented (or made to happen).

i liked it. didn't think it was cinematic at all. very tv-ish, but good tv. i liked how it all came together and seeing the dad's face with the images of his daughter on the Jumbotron was done well. i would be in for more.

Kiefer talking about Touch and talks a little about the 24 movie at around the 6 minute mark. This is from Ryan Seacrest's radio show.

I really like it, little 24 - little detective show, little Sci-Fi...
Will watch the future eps, not sure how good it will be week after week.

Wife is immediately hooked, I like the subplot of the dad's phone traveling the world, then instrumental in stopping a terrorist bombing. Contrived? Yes, but still cool.

I liked it, but was the pilot cut down for this early showing? It recorded at 1 hour 7 minutes on my DVR and I'm wondering if when they show the actual pilot it will be 2 hours.
There were several scenes where it seemed like they cut soon and left out some plot points (especially Danny Glover's scene). If there's a longer pilot, I think it could be a great show.

Re: Touch -- Series Premiere -- "Pilot" -- 1/25/12
Reminds me a lot of the Inarritu trilogy (Amores Perros, 21 Grams and Babel).
I really liked the pilot a lot. The direction was crisp and the acting was solid. As mentioned before, very cinematic.
But .... this could easily fall to being hokey. They are going to have to work very hard to keep me from rolling my eyes.

I thought it was fine. However I don't know how it can be done week to week. Eventually all we will be doing is listening for every minor detail to link the guest cast together before the reveal.

I can believe the kid seeing some patterns in numbers, but the patterns prophecising real events??? Bwa ha ha ha.
The coincidences were wildly unlikely, a few coincidences are fine, but so many were thrown in the show that it made for extremely bad storytelling.
Have the writers done any math? Do they think numbers are magic?

I liked it. It's nothing extraordinary but it was very well done. I'm just hoping its not another procedural with Keifer and the kid saving someone every week.
It's about a kid that can see the future based on numbers. Of course it doesn't make sense. You either suspend your belief for it or you don't.

LOL -- I can't believe it took 56 posts into this thread for someone to point out this absurdity. Kring does it again!

Yeah it was really absurd and silly. I was rolling my eyes from the moment Kiefer left the phone on the bag. Then the ridiculous numbers stuff just got worse and worse.
At least I gave it a shot, but I don't think I'll be back for episode 2.
Also, that was one magical battery! Was that phone filming non-stop from Ireland to Tokyo and never ran out of juice!?

I liked it a lot. Solid acting and great direction. Sure it was contrived and not at all realistic, but it's a television show about a kid with autism that predicts the future with numbers. As a few have already mentioned, you either suspend your disbelief or you don't.
I think they should do a combination of stand-alone and serialized.

Pretty sure that was an HTC EVO 4G which was only available on Sprint's USA CDMA network. Not sure why a guy from the UK would have one, wouldn't work there. You'd think he'd want a GSM world phone with all that traveling if he wants to actually be able to use his phone.

Was not a fan. Seemed really heavy handed and contrived to me. Very forced plot. Probably won't continue watching it when it starts again in March.
