Reading back on some of the past posts about plugging their comic (which is, IMHO, terrible, btw); I wonder why DC or Marvel don't at least put up a commercial for their comics, considering both have had recent reboots and efforts to get people back into comics. I don't think they even advertise on their cartoon shows. Heck, does Image ever advertise during Walking Dead? If not, why not? The audience for these shows are much broader than the comic book buying audience, and at least some of the people watching are probably lapsed comic book fans.
As far as Image goes, Image isn't really a publisher in the traditional sense. They publish creator-owned books by taking only a publishing fee and the creators take the profits of their books off the back-end. As such, any outside advertising would be the responsibility of the creators. Image Comics itself isn't a profit-generator and doesn't make a lot of money, so there's no advertising budget to buy commercials.

To be fair, that Crisis poster is Perez/Alex Ross...
Maybe it's not in the budget of Marvel/DC to do advertising, but I'm still surprised they don't sponsor the show or something... not that I want it to become one-sided, and they must give their blessing to some of it, but even just a little bit of a hook. I mean this is their target audience, I would think.

How AMC ever thought their trashy reality shows could survive on the most competitive viewing night of the week is beyond me. I said before the ratings would fall off the map for this show once it lost the Walking Dead lead-in.

GI Joe was pretty much the only time I've ever seen advertising for a comic on TV. Of course it helped the fact it had a TV show and popular toyline.
Otherwise, I don't really know how they'd advertise Marvel or DC stuff. Maybe just make a 30 story of a superhero and say 'See more _____ action in _____ comics'. I'm sure the leadtime on comics & advertising wouldn't match up to sell the current issue. Maybe for an upcoming big event but they'd have to advertise before it starts selling so customers can get the 1st parts of the story.
You figure Comic Book Men serves as advertising since it does show both Marvel & DC comics so a viewer will know comics exist for a certain character.

I think there was a reason they had commercials for the G.I. Joe and Transformers comic books; I think it was because they couldn't advertise the toys during the programs themselves. Did those commercials ever run outside of the G.I. Joe/Transformers cartoons?
I also recall commercials during the afternoon block of cartoons (GI Joe, He-Man, Transformers, Thundercats, Silverhawks, etc.) for a local comic book store. One of them mentioned the new "X-Factor" series.

You are correct, I believe the whole reason the GI Joe and Transformers comic books even existed in the first place was so they could run ads for them which totally were NOT ads for toys, they were ads for comic books, not toys, at all. Then the introduce the new GI Joe character "Loophole"

Per the FCC, they couldn't advertise GI Joe toys during the GI Joe cartoon. The cartoons themselves were not considered commercials as long as the products were not advertised during the breaks. They could advertise He-Man toys during GI Joe and vice versa, however. Before He-Man came along, there were regulations about cartoons to promote a toyline in general -- He-Man was the first to take advantage after that initial ban was lifted.

The whole ban just reeks of parents not having the backbone to say no to their kids. "I don't want to tell my little Johnny NO so show him stuff he'll want"

Ming has a groupie?
I guess Walt knows what he is doing. Almost sold the Giant Size X-Men for $425 and then was able to get $550.
If it comes back I hope it gets re-paired with TWD either shorten Talking Dead to 30 minutes again or add another half-hour show for a 3 hour comic block.

If the show was just Ming, the other guy and Kevin, it would be tolerable

I hope it comes back though the hockey segment was boring but the rest of the show was good.

The show is dirt cheap to make. It will be back in some form. It's apparent that AMC wants to get in on the wave of cheap reality television to fill some holes in their schedule. The problem is that those other reality shows were not a good match for the Comic Book Men.
I am really surprised we haven't seen more episodes shot at a comic con.

You would think they would have a good following and have a lot of fans if they did Comic Con.
