It makes him sympathetic to have a gay(?) son that he accepts and a likeable father. Take them away and Marty's a complete asshole.

Re: House of Lies -- Season Premiere -- "Stochasticity" -- 1/13/13
Showtime's House of Lies, which began its second season Sunday night, has cast Matt Damon for a guest turn as himself. "Damon will employ the House of Lies gang, led by Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell, to help him start a charitable organization to compete with George Clooney," THR writes. Damon and Cheadle appeared in the Ocean's Eleven films together, so they'll have that to reminisce about.

I don't think Monica was actually being a tease. She's gotten sober, gotten her head right, and sure seemed to be doing a great job as a mother. She almost fell back into her old habits with Marty, but wisely stopped herself.
Course we saw in the coming attractions for the season exactly why that was the case.
I mean, lez be honest here...... :-)

Suprisingly strong start for season 2. The last few episodes of last season and this one have shown this series to have found its voice.

I still think this show grinds to a halt whenever Guggenheim and Clyde are on screen and the writers are trying to be funny. For a show where every other character lives in the real world, those two stick out like sore thumbs with the ridiculousness of their dialog.

Well I guess there's something for everyone. Does nothing for me.
I'm still not sure why I watch this show.

I watched last season, barely making it through. I couldn't finish this episode, I just fine all of the characters SO hateable, and not even in an interesting way. I'm out.

Without Kristen Bell I'd be done with it... and even then I'm still not sure why I watch the show. A friend of mine loves it, so I think I keep tuning in hoping to figure out what he likes so much.

I do know I wouldn't watch it if wasn't paired with Californication. For one thing, I wouldn't have a SHO subscription during this cycle.

House of Lies -- "When Dinosaurs Ruled the Planet" -- 1/20/13

Are they really hinting on some kind of romance angle between Marty and Jeannie? Cheadle and Bell have absolutely no chemistry together. Cheadle and Nia Long, who was a guest star in this episode made more sense.
I enjoyed that they shot this episode in Las Vegas.
at Guggenheim getting thrown out of the casino because of his ban.
Guggenheim is such a dumbass.
I enjoyed seeing Nia Long. Have always liked her and she and Cheadle were good together in their scenes.
Kevin Dobson is cool too.

Marty and Clyde woo a Las Vegas casino mogul who has a healthy distaste for consultants, while Jeannie has ulterior business motives when she invites Tamara to spend a day at the spa. Later, Monica and her personal vegan chef appear to get along like two peas in a pod.

I'm out.
I watched through part of this episode, and had an epiphany. I hate all of these fucking people. They're spoiled, smug, entitled assholes. I'm sick of looking at them, and I'm sick of following their lives. I didn't finish the episode. I deleted it, and removed the series from my DVR scheduler.

I agree. These people are pretty terrible. I don't mind these shows that operate on a 2-3 episode arc that always end with the main characters pulling a 'win' out of their ass. Early seasons of Entourage were very entertaining and worked the same way. Difference with this show is that I don't really want to see these people win.
The fact that the mother has seemingly cleaned up her act to raise her son just goes to show you how terrible Marty is since he didn't bother to do the same.
I'm not out yet. There are still entertaining parts. Guggenheim and Jean Ralphio still bring some laughs. But this show has turned into something I'll give half my attention to while I'm doing something else.

I got through the first few episodes of the first season and it annoyed me, trying to be too clever and cute... turned away and never looked back... my time is too important to waste on a show that doesnt grab me pretty quickly, which is a shame because I love the cast, but I HATED the characters...

Yup, biggest problem with this show is that virtually everyone is unlikable. Thankfully, it's only a 30 minute commitment each week. I'll stick around -- largely because it's sandwiched between Shameless and Californication.
