If you're in New York, Jonathan Ames is buying drinks for fans of Bored to Death tomorrow night:
"I invite all fans of Bored to Death to come to the Brooklyn Inn tomorrow night, Wednesday, and I’ll buy you a drink. John Hodgman will be joining me and perhaps other local New York City actors from the show will be there, and we can all toast Bored to Death and a completely loony and improbable three-year run."

Bored to Death is one of my favorite shows. Totally bummed it's getting cancelled, but at the same time, I'm shocked it got 3 seasons based on how little popularity it had.

Just shitcanned HBO. They can go screw themselves. I'll watch True Blood through alternative ways.

I really liked Bored to Death, and kinda liked the other two shows, but they at least got more than one season. I actually really enjoyed Enlightened and am looking forward to seeing more episodes of it.

I'm sad for the demise of 'Hung' but not entirely surprised. Low ratings or not, the show has really lost its way and its initial premise has never really been explored. It's been 3 seasons now, and bascially, we're nowhere different than we were at the pilot.

Any contract I'd sign with HBO would need to include a final 2- or 3-episode arc to finish a series.

Pretty dumb move since Life's Too Short is only 7 episodes and probably won't get renewed because of the shit ratings it got in the UK.
Angry Boys wasn't very good, and has no chance of being renewed since he'll move to different characters if he does another similar series.

Watched every second of Hung and it was pretty average and more of a giant missed opportunity.
I am very sad over Bored to Death. I thought it was perfect.

HBO also has a new Aaron Sorkin show in the works, Newsroom...starring Jane Fonda and Jeff Daniels. I'm assuming between that, Luck, and keeping both True Blood and Game of Thrones up and running, they wanted to streamline their costs.
I don't care about Hung, Bored, or How To Make It, but if they decide not to bring Curb back, I'll be pretty ticked.

I can't stand Sorkin and his preachy bullshit. Every episode I've ever seen from one of his shows felt like an adult Afterschool Special.

I've been getting them and watching it. It isn't as good as The Office or Extras but it has had some funny moments. For 7 episodes of 22-25 min each, I'll take the time.
I'm guessing this will mean that The Life & Times of Tim is likely enjoying its final season, as well.

what you aren't taking into account, is after the fact dvd/blu-ray sales. i guarantee you the shows they canceled don't even sell a tenth of the other shows they didn't cancel on blu-ray and dvd.

Never watched HTMIIA, but I liked Hung and really liked Bored to Death. Too bad, but I mostly watch HBO for its original Drama series anyway, so I shall be keeping it! I do however need to cancel Showtime since Dexter and Homeland are over for the time being.

Boardwalk is still the single biggest disappointment to ever air on HBO (for me of course). Their fantasy shows (GoT and True Blood) are spot-on though.
