Synopsis:

Spoiler:
The identity of the man in the rubber suit is revealed.

Episode 8 of 12

For those who missed my post, the episode order was cut from 13 to 12 last week because of production schedule issues. If they filmed a 13th episode, it wouldn't have made air before Christmas with post production factored in and FX wants the season to finish before Christmas. The finale will be 90 minutes.

Anyone disappointed by the reveal of the rubber man identity?

If I ever get shot I hope it's a "through and through." No medical attention needed!

The reveal definitely took me by surprise, I would never have guessed that character. But a large part of the mystery in the show is now gone with the twist. It greatly reduces the story possibilities of where the plot may go from here.

The show is still very good and has been written pretty craftily, but I think too much has been revealed about the workings in the house at this stage. The show is a simple ghost story instead of a more elaborate mythology that I thought was being implied in the early episodes.

A bit disappointed with the reveal that Tate is rubberman. Especially since we'd seen him in the outfit before and assumed it was a simple red herring. I'm still on board with the show but am a bit letdown.

Edit-It's ironic that in the pictures linked in the original post, rubberman and Tate are seen separately.

The reveal of Rubber Man was interesting but slightly disappointing since the guy in the suit we saw in the pilot had a larger frame. boo

 Connie Britton and her descent into hysteria. Violet is one ungrateful bitch of a daughter for not defending her mother - her heart deserves to be broken by that psycho.

Much much of the mythology revealed in this ep thanks to Kate Mara's no friggin' gazebo will keep me down ghost.

Miss the presence of Jessica Lange.

Thought it was a good episode, although i really, really missed Jessica Lange. She makes my horror story world go around.

My favorite parts were the ghosts intereacting and making game plans to get their way. Kate Mara's just incredible. Really should've have cheated on the wife with her dude, she's the mistress from hell.

Violet surprised me, letting her mother go down like that for Tate.

Overall I enjoyed the episode. But yeah the reveal that Tate was Rubber man was kind of meh.

 So Constance's dead son, who is a ghost, is the father of Vivien's twins?

Zachary Quinto was annoying as shit in this episode. He was just a whiney little bitch.

I did enjoy the re-visit to the kill scene with Tate and the gay couple and expanding on it. That was fucking brutal. However, that was a little overboard to have Tate sodomize Quinto's partner with the fireplace stick. -eek-

 Connie Britton was great. I enjoyed seeing Vivien's descent into madness.

Remind me of a since from Hancock. Where he said I will put your head up his ass and your head up his and and your head up his ass and being your the 3rd one. I guess I will have put it up my ass.

I like how they did it. They gave it away sometime ago but left you wondering. Seems if you die in the house horny you stay horny.

So, the motive for the ghosts is to force a miscarrage so that they can have the babies?

Good episode but not AHS good, get it? ;)

So, I have read some theories online, no spoilers since they are theories.

- Violet is dead. She overdosed. That's why she haven't been to school in 2 weeks or so.
- McDermott is dead, that should be easier to disapprove next week.

No, they can physically touch people in the house when they want to so they'd want her to have the babies and they'd actually raise them.

How they'd have the supplies somehow beforehand though since they can't leave is undetermined.

But yeah with that commercial for next week we've DEFINITELY gone into Rosemary's Baby/Omen territory.

Re: American Horror Story -- "Rubber Man" -- 11/23/11

I thought the rubber man was going to be the doctor trying to give his wife another baby.

Didn't we see before that Tate couldn't get it up with Violet? Now he's done both the mother and the daughter?

Was that the first time we've seen Constance's dead husband as a ghost?

I don't know how big that gun was, but shouldn't she have noticed her purse being a big lighter.

Maybe Tate can only have sex while in the house.

I wonder if he is dead? She shot him, he died, she passed out and Hayden took him away.

Seriously though, he gets shot and doesn't need to go to the Doctor but his wife is the one that is insane? The cops bought that??

Agree with both of these. I was 50/50 on Violet being dead after the overdose but when they mentioned that she hasn't been in school for two weeks I was sold that she's dead.

And I think Ben has had the same fate after the shot. I think when they showed the smoking hot Hayden "killing" the guy and then having him just get up afterwards explained why Ben wasn't in any pain and the "through and through" line confirmed it for me.

I think the show is setting up to kill the family and by the end of the season revealing to them that they are dead and can't leave the house. This sets up for a new family to move in next season while keeping the current family around.

This.

And of course they can "guest" star from time to time.

The only open "issue" right now would be Jessica Lange, she has a contract for this season only. Of course she can have the same fate as her daughter.

You've probably ruined the twist for this season for anyone who reads this thread. The whole season is going to be the Sixth Sense.

Why? This is TV Talk. We are hardcore here. We are suppose to write about that stuff.

I think he nailed it, but maybe he's totally wrong.

Just a joke, the serious lack of smilie options on this forum left out my intent.

The only thing spoiled in this thread was the Sixth Sense.
