Wow, The Muppets return to SNL. Have they been on since the 1st ep back in the 70's?

Wasn't Cookie Monster on just last season? Or doesn't he count as a one of "The Muppets" since he's on Sesame Street?

I thought I remembered Kermit singing with Robert DeNiro. How's the episode for us West Coasters? Worth staying up for? No one has bitched about how much it sucks yet.

That music was just awful.

So the Vogelchec family consists of Paul Rudd, James Franco and Jason Segel.

:yack:

They were on several episodes in the 1st season, and even 1 in the second before they were dropped. It would be really cool if they were to break out the old SNL muppets tonight, maybe resentful that they weren't included in the new Muppet movie or something.

What was the song that the background singers were covering/sampling or whatever in the first song of the musical guest?

Manhattan Afternoon

The last 2 episodes were not that bad and even Wiig was funny in some spots.

It seems like the best and most original sketches come after 12:30am.

The chess video with Samberg and Andre the Giant picks a ice cream flavor lol.

Can't disagree more, very unfunny all around, save for WU. Waste of Seigel's talents, he's actually quite funny.

I enjoyed "Andre the Giant Picks a Flavor of Ice Cream" and the "Massachusetts Afternoon" sketches. It was great to see The Muppets.

WU was pretty good (especially "Really! w/ Seth & Kermit") and I liked the cold open. The rest was meh.

And I could do without the Vogelchechs.

Can't wait for Steve Buscemi is a couple of weeks.

Was this the most screen time Jay Pharrow has ever had? Seems like he popped up 4-5 times.

He's praying for Denzel Washington to have another hit movie.

I liked te kissing family sketch for a change.

Florence and the machine was more like Florence and a few glimpses of the band. Lots of close ups of her there.

How is that even possible? It seemed like an inside joke that nobody got. Even the audience barely laughed at that one.

Sentences I never thought I'd hear: "Thanks to Florence and the Machine, the Muppets, Paul Rudd, and Governor Jon Huntsman!"

Maybe Rick Santorum will appear in an upcoming Vogelcheck family sketch.

For me it was laid back, and I found the humor in that laziness. The reactions from the people at the bar, the fact that folks kept showing up and disappearing in between cuts, the straightforward "I'm a talented lyricist" schtick and then running sentences together... I just got it. Thought it was funny.

Anyone remember when they did a similar sketch to the Time Life New Jack Thanksgiving skit? I believe it was something like a Solid Gold reunion or an 80's compilation.
