Synopsis: Spoiler:
Episode 5 of 22 |
Re: Glee -- "The First Time" -- 11/08/11
I think I enjoyed this show a lot more without Mr. Shuester, Sue and all the usual glee club crap.
The first time plot line felt a little cliche but i suppose there is only so many ways you can tell the story of a couple deciding whether or not its time to have sex. The fact that there is a young gay male couple deciding didn't seem new, fresh, or exciting. It just seemed about 10 years too late. Kurt confronting his former bully in the gay bar where he is now an 'out and proud' bear cub just didn't seem believable at all. There is no way Kurt would just sit there and have a drink with the guy after being beaten and threatened. But I suppose they wanted to show what happened to the bully character and explain his motivation. |

As a college football fan, the whole Finn recruitment story was just absurd:lol:

Preetty Much. He wanted to slit his wrists because he wasn't good enough for Ohio State. Hello! |

[cross promotion]isn't it coincidental that Fox is releasing 'West Side Story' on bluray next week[/cross promotion]
interesting that the 'glee' version of 'America' is the movie version, in the play version it's only the women who sing and dance the song. |
Re: Glee -- "The First Time" -- 11/08/11
I remember lasty when an ep. of Glee would have at least two pages of discussion at this point. Popularity must be fading fast.

As for the criticism of how college football is handled, I once again feel the need to point out that the way show choir is handled has been equally ridiculous since day 1. Hell, the way the musical is handled was just as unrealistic but I let it go because it's a TV show. I liked how they wove the West Side Story scenes into the story and I thought they handled the subject matter really well. It's absolutely ridiculous that the PTC was up in arms over this episode, as it was far tamer than I expected given the amount of reaction it had already generated, the parental warning, etc. Also the episode was really well shot. Lots of interesting camera angles, overhead shots and other things that made it look pretty unique. |

Santana looked good. Real good.
and who was the teacher the Warblers were singing Uptown Girl to? |

Nice quick shot of Heather Morris in the chorus with short hair. Liked it better than her hair pulled back.

Re: Glee -- "The First Time" -- 11/08/11
When did Hulu change it so you can't see the episode the next day? I have to wait a freaking week now???

I just hope that Blaine was wearing a condom so that Kurt doesn't end up having an unwanted butt-baby.

interesting that the 'glee' version of 'America' is the movie version, in the play version it's only the women who sing and dance the song. And yeah, I noticed it was the movie version as well, though I don't think it's an odd choice. I don't think I've ever seen that performed on stage (there may be rules), but I know with Grease people are always upset when the movies songs aren't included. It was a bigger stretch to include the Jets (I think Artie mentioned this), which I don't think accomplished anything other than getting Mike Chang out to see his parents' seats. |
Re: Glee -- "The First Time" -- 11/08/11
I liked this episode more than last week's episode. I agree with others the part about Finn and the college football recruiter was ridiculous, but then again other TV shows before Glee haven't been realistic in regards to college sports.

Well, Finn isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer either so maybe it makes sense that he doesn't know he can attend Eastern Illinois etc. and still have a career.

Many are happy enough with mutual masturbation and oral sex. It's also a myth that the femme guy is always the bottom. |

Going from "no hands below the waist" to anal? That's what you call jumping in the deep end. :rimshot:

This show wasn't bad especially with Sue being gone. They have run her into the ground. |

Uptown girl was cool

Re: Glee -- "The First Time" -- 11/08/11
It was, but while I was watching, all I could think about is how much better it'd have been were Blaine singing.

Re: Glee -- "The First Time" -- 11/08/11
Just got caught up. With the exception of the annoying Warbler stalker whose name I've already forgotten, I liked this episode a lot. Could be because I really like West Side Story (I could've watched them sing the whole show!), but I really enjoyed it this week. Agree that the lack of Sue and the other glee club drama probably added to my enjoyment.
