Synopsis:

Spoiler:
As Mystic Falls prepares to celebrate the traditional Illumination Night, the town is invaded by spirits of the dead. After a particularly violent encounter with an angry spirit, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) asks Bonnie (Kat Graham) to find the reason behind the ghosts' surprising power. Elena (Nina Dobrev) convinces Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) to use his connection to the other side to help her find a new way to reach Stefan (Paul Wesley), leading Jeremy to a terrible choice. Finally, Alaric (Matt Davis) discovers a long-hidden clue to the past. Candice Accola and Zach Roerig also star. David Jackson directed the episode written by Rebecca Sonnenshine (#307).

Is it me or does Mystic Falls have an inordinate amount festivals and gatherings? The townspeople don't really work or go to school. They seem to spend majority of their time planning and attending festivals.

HaHa, I am ALWAYS commenting on this to my husband. Last week Elena commented on it being a year since she meet Stephen and I thought, geez they sure did fit in a lot of festivals/town parties in that one year! *lol*

Pretty cool episode. Nice to see a few other old characters resurrected temporarily. at Mason's reunion with Damon.

Liked Lexi's detox treatment on Stefan. I'm guessing they are going to drag out this Ripper thing until at least early Spring. I did like Elena saying that she wasn't going to wait for him forever.

at Bonnie giving Jeremy the cold shoulder for kissing a ghost.

I wonder how much Kelly Hu got paid for that little appearance.

Great episode.

Looks like Bonnie is going to the darkside.

Man, this show just keeps getting better and better. Another awesome episode.
I was kinda surprised about the first 2 seasons taking place in only a year. I guess I'm so used to shows progressing the same as real world time, that I assumed that closer to 2 years had passed.

at Mason smashing the glass on Damon's head at the bar.

This show continues to bring the awesome. It's amazing how they keep expanding the mythology so quickly. They even managed to work in some genuinely emotional moments at the end.

It's looking less and less likely they ever get Damon and Elena together. Stefan is going around killing people and Elena doesn't want to give up on him yet. Though I did find it funny that Jeremy would rather date a ghost than Bonnie.

I was amazed they fit so much into this episode. Yet when you stop and think there was no Tyler screen time, no Klaus or his sister, or Katherine and the vamp hunter. They continually manage a multitude of plot threads so well.

I'd be fine with Bonnie going dark if it was for real and not a plot thread for 6 episodes. Haver her turn evil and stay there. Besides, with the warlocks gone we need some fresh witch juju.
