I've really been enjoying this season thus far and can't wait for the new episode. The end scene from last week's episode was awesome.

Fantastic episode. Wonder if there will be any fallout from Miami Metro witnessing the 3rd kill. I want to say that it looks like Dr. Gellar is still a living person and not a figment like Dexter's father, but there are still some things that seem off about his interaction with others. The waitress in the cafe paid no attention to him, and then at the end when he was in the kitchen with the 3rd victim, she was just looking at Travis and not Dr. Gellar.

I'm thinking Travis has split-personality disorder - one of them manifests itself as Gellar, who is probably dead. Perhaps murdered by Travis.

Would not be surprised if this is the case.

Re: Dexter -- "A Horse of a Different Color" -- 10/23/11

Yeah, I don't think Gellar is a living, breathing person either. If you watch closely, they've been going out of their way to not show him interacting with anyone but Travis when he's in the presence of others. The waitress never acknowledged him, and the victim didn't either, but she sort of winced when he touched her without looking at him.

Thought they were going somewhere else with Ryan, like have her be a serial killer obsessive who started prying into Ice Truck and Bay Harbor. Maybe she still will, though Masuka probably won't let her pilfer through evidence now.

Holy crap that was good.

I'm also in the company that is thinking Gellar is probably dead and Travis is interacting with a split personality. I think what pretty much gave it away was him all of the sudden playing peeping tom to Travis and the waitress having sex.

Batista and Quinn getting high had me rolling.

Quinn: "Dude, get your fucking sausage fingers off me."

You know I'm actually kind of liking this Dexter/Brother Sam friendship. It's still very early in the season, so I'm sure there is more to come. But, I've enjoyed their bonding.

at LaGuerta trying to set up Deb to fail and actually making her look good. LaGuerta is such dead weight. I think they should transfer her or kill her off after this season. She serves no purpose other than being a snarky bitch to Deb and Angel.

to the final trap that killed the waitress and the locust storm.

For a second it seemed likem God might have been under the impression that Dexter was praying for him to fix the coffee machine. If so, that would have been quite the wasted miracle.

When Batista and Quinn were saying that Gellar had disappeared after losing his college position, Batista said that he had "gone underground." I think him using that particular term was a double-meaning hint to us from the show's writers that Gellar is really dead.

It would be interesting if Professor Gellar was a hallucination, but still alive. So the cops can "catch" him, but in fact he actually has nothing to do with Trevor's crime spree.

Re: Dexter -- "A Horse of a Different Color" -- 10/23/11

I am also enjoying the Brother Sam stuff. Perfect casting, as opposed to Hanks. If they are setting Sam up for a big twist and a spot on Dexter's table, they are doing a masterful job.

The angel victim trap could be a shitstorm for Deb since she was there when it happened. I hope that fact doesn't become a big plot point. Her stressing out with multiple f-bombs gets old very quickly and she already has more than enough reasons to do so and screen time to do it in.

Hoping Mazuka finds it in his heart to get back with the intern. You know, for all the love and emotional fulfillment she could give him.

Yeah, Mos Def is blowing me away with his acting. Great chemistry with Michael Hall too - those two work really well together.

By far the best episode of the season. It sure seems that Dr. Gellar isnt real, but they've made it hard to tell. Looks like the rest of the season is going to be great. Honestly wasn't very happy with the casting of Mos Def, but boy was I wrong. He is doing a fantastic job. Looks like this is setting up the complete downfall of Batista.

Re: Dexter -- "A Horse of a Different Color" -- 10/23/11

Heh, we find out why the intern stole the prosthetic arm in the episode last night.

Didn't realize how much screen time Mos would be getting. At least Dexter is finally clued in on a serial killer(s) on the loose. Knew Deb would let loose with the f-bombs in the news interview, just like LaGuerta knew, but it turned out okay since the higher-up/commissioner liked the frankness. Not sure about the new guy on Deb's team. Angel and Quinn toking up was sort of funny in an impromtu buddy-buddy moment between them.

Re: Dexter -- "A Horse of a Different Color" -- 10/23/11

I thought the waitress not asking Gellar if he needed anything was proof that Gellar wasn't real. But then I thought he had to be real if when they showed her tied up. And then we got some proof that he was a real person at some point. Is it possible he died sometime after he went underground and is only in Travis' head? Did Travis actually tie the waitress up then go back to bed? The crime scenes also seem too complex for a single person to do on their own, but who knows.

I thought Deb would be more freaked out about Dexter hanging out with Brother Sam.

Yeah, I'm not sure if Gellar is alive or not. If Hanks killed him, what would the reason be? Specially since he seems to be following all his orders.

So the big surprise will be that he is actually alive?

WHen Dexter saw Hanks glowingly watching the swarm fly around I thought he should have instinctively taken some pictures of him as he had the camera on his shoulders and could have snapped a bunch of shots without being noticed.

When Hanks was planking the waitress was he at her house or his own?

Can't say I'm too impressed with the writing so far. Hanks and Olmos are like cartoons and all the religious stuff is sooo heavy handed

Re: Dexter -- "A Horse of a Different Color" -- 10/23/11

I thought it was a really fantastic episode. Mos can definitely act. I like Deb's storyline, I like the new cop. Anyone else think when he asked about Batista's car it was going to be about pot? The weakest link was definitely the intern stealing the arm to sell on ebay? WTF?! There's got to be more to her, please.
