When Breaking Bad ends, they need to bring those writers over to work on this. Seriously, the writing is just so so bad...

In the Walking Dead universe as far as the comics go(I haven't read them but plan on it) has it been established that zombie movies and lore as we know them don't exist? In the first season of the show on some other boards people complained about the characters not knowing the rules of zombies. There were people wondering why they didn't raid the nearest gun store then hightail it to the local shopping mall to live it up.
I always had the impression from the first season that the idea of zombies as we know them don't exist in this world.

Wow, some of y'all are like wrestling fans, you complain about everything and anything. I thought the show was great last night and going by the season preview, the rest looks pretty good. Don't overanalyze things and just have fun watching this.

So I imagine Dr Mabuse and Dragon Tattoo will be back next week to complain some more.

The worse this show gets, the better these threads get. That alone makes this worth watching.
I think the writers should string along this Sophia thing as long as they can. Everybody else gets killed looking for her, and she winds up the only survivor.

Shhh. Nobody mention that apparently the viewing figures for this episode broke records. The nerd rage in this thread would be unbearable.

You know what's even worse than the people complaining about the episode? The complaining about the people who didn't like the episode.

Here are the ratings broken down by Deadline.com
http://www.deadline.com/2011/10/the-...total-viewers/
4.8 million viewers in Adults 18-49 (translated to 3.8)
4.2 million viewers in Adults 25-54
7.3 million total viewers for premiere
11 million total viewers for the night
7.3M viewers for the 1st airing is insane. 11M including the encore airing is just amazing. The CW and FOX would love to have those kind of numbers.

I enjoyed it. I wish the search and rescue wasn't dragging on as long as it is, but the zombie herd and the ending were quite awesome. Yes it has some flaws, but they haven't prevented me from enjoying the show. Looking forward to next week!

Aside from the writing my biggest complaint last season were the one dimensional characters. They at least seem to have worked on that and are now working on giving the characters some depth. I still think the cast is too big though. I would like to see them get rid of some dead weight. Maybe they're starting with the kid.

God I love nerd rage and nerd rage over zombies is one of the best... Maybe not to the level of Star Wars NR, but pretty damn close.

Anybody else having audio issues with this? I'm watching the recording on DirecTV of the encore from 12:30 last night & the center channel is in the left speaker & what sounds like it should be the left/right are in the rears. And it's out of synch on top of that.
Was the premiere like that or did they hose the audio for the encores? I've never had this issue with any other programs.

I recorded the encore and all the dialog was coming from the left speaker. They fucked up the breaking bad finale, too, with the dialog coming out of the rear channel speakers.
I don't know if AMC is fucking up the mix or something that DirecTV is doing, but that's twice in 2 weeks a show has been fucked up. It's annoying as hell.

I'm not watching this as it airs, gave up cable 2 years ago, but you can bet I'll be buying S2 when it gets released on DVD and has a chance to get a good sale, I don't care how much it deviates from accepted zombie lore, I like this show. Don't get why armchair critics always pick shit to pieces, me.....I just enjoy the ride. -kd5-

While we're all bitch'n, whether about the show or others critiquing the show, I'm going to sort of combined the two and say that Talking dead was pretty worthless. I thought they would have more content from the show, including people involved with the production. All we got on that front was a couple of behind the scene clips and a short interview with Kirkman. They even brought in Gunn and had him basically act like a fanboy without really drawing on his zombie production experience at all.

I love how they enlisted everybody in the group that was able to search (in order to cover as wide an area as possible), and then they all just tromped around in single file.

See, this is what bothers me about the show...
Had Rick simply killed both of those zombies following Sophia, he could've taken her back to the group and they could leave. Why didn't he? Gunshot too loud? Great, then smash them with rocks like you do a mile and a half into the forest.
I can't believe some people have called this the series best episode yet. I don't think it's stronger than any S1 episode. They really better pick it up.

It wasn't terrible, but this show is really garbage compared with the rest of AMC's lineup. It just feels sort of haphazard.
I mean, it was downright eye-roll enducing when Dale - not the idiot of the group - is on top of the RV carefully scouting their surroundings, and then all of a sudden there are hundreds of zombies literally 50 feet away.
Then there was the missing kid. Which isn't a bad storyline actually, if you can imagine yourself in the kid's shoes - being alone at night in a forest full of man-eating zombies. It was handled in kind of a boring way though. And I had to fast forward through those prayer scenes at the church. So dull.
The violence is the one thing this show gets right. I loved when they cut open the walker to see what he ate. I'll keep watching, but with the understanding that this is barely a step up from your standard network serialized thriller.

I can only turn my brain off for so long, though, especially a week after Breaking Bad occupied this timeslot. Maybe I'll stupid into it as it goes along.
