I read they ditched the original actress for the older daughter because they felt the new one would give the character more to do in the show. Last I checked, that's what the writers are for.

In any case, glad the show is back but really dislike the new older daughter. I hope they pull a Roseanne with that casting change.

I thought they look different. But I don't pay enough attention to the show to be sure.

The presidential election is very annoying. So I wasn't really into this week's episode.

Tim Allen is still really funny.

The new daughter looks too old. Plus she isn't funny.

At least they kept the hot daughter.

Wasn't sure if it was the material I didn't find funny or her but she sure doesn't take anything and make it funnier. Curious if they did any focus groups before they hired her and if they did, how she managed to get several relatives into the group

It wasn't a great season premier - I'm really tired of the election. There were a few good lines at the end "do you want to bring back slavery and only men voting?" ... "slavery is wrong" was my favourite.

I wish I knew why the original actress playing the eldest daughter was replaced - she had better chemistry, and was much funnier. I hope the series gets back to the level it was at last year - it was the best sitcom on, in my humble opinion.

Last Man Standing (ABC) -- Series Thread

"Last Man Standing" depicts Tim Allen as Mike Baxter, an executive at a sporting goods store in Denver. Baxter has found that his life is increasingly dominated by women, living with his three daughters and wife Vanessa. Baxter though is determined to maintain his masculinity, and truly be the last man standing.
Not sure if anyone watches this show here, but it's filler for me on Friday nights. Tonight was the fourth season premiere.

Anyone else find Eve's friend, whom we've never seen before, just a tad creepy?

My goodness, just started this on Netflix and have not laughed that hard at a show in quite some time. The first 4-5 episodes of the series is amazing. I don't know why I haven't watched this years ago. Anyone else watches this?

I watched at the beginning and found it pretty entertaining. After they switched daughters I watched a few more then stopped. As others have said the original actress was much funnier, prettier and had better chemistry. The replacement I found no appealing qualities. Since it was a marginal show and not a "must watch" to begin with, I gave up on it. Tim was the only real funny part.

Pretty much agree. Was there a reason for the actress switch?

Me too the d7namic of the show changed for me after the switch.

Not the same.

I initially found the switch a bit jarring, but do think that she looked way too young to have a kid Boyd's current age. I grew accustomed to the new actress over time.

For some reason I took an instant dislike to the new actress. I wanted to donkey punch her.

That really sucks to hear. Fuller is a sweet person, but with this and playing Brittney Murphy, she has gotten a ton of heat online.

SEASON PREMIERE

TIM ALLEN RETURNS AS THE BLUNT 'MAN'S MAN' FOR A SIXTH SEASON OF ABC'S 'LAST MAN STANDING,' FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23

Tim Allen is back for a sixth season of "Last Man Standing" as Mike Baxter, the straight-talking champion of common sense in a politically correct world. The season premiere will air FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 (8:00-8:31 p.m. EDT), on the ABC Television Network.

"Last Man Standing" is a show about an American family and everything they deal with today - all filtered through the blunt "man's man" comedy of an iconic American dad. Through it all, Mike sees himself as a beacon of reason, as he continues to be surrounded by forces seeking to challenge his ideas on just about everything.

In the season premiere episode, "Papa Bear," Mike arrives for work at Outdoor Man to discover Kyle feeding stray cats off the warehouse's loading dock and quickly puts a stop to it. Meanwhile, Kristin has been working so hard preparing to host her very first brunch at the Outdoor Man Grill that husband Ryan has been feeling neglected. Later on, while watching the security camera feed, Chuck and Mike notice that Kyle left the loading dock door open, and after a closer look, they spot a surprising intruder - a giant bear. Mike now has to find a way to get the bear out of Outdoor Man and keep his family safe.

"Last Man Standing" stars Tim Allen as Mike Baxter, Nancy Travis as Vanessa Baxter, Molly Ephraim as Mandy Baxter, Kaitlyn Dever as Eve Baxter, Amanda Fuller as Kristin Baxter, Jordan Masterson as Ryan Vogelson, Christoph Sanders as Kyle Anderson, Flynn Morrison as Boyd Baxter, Jonathan Adams as Chuck Larabee and Hector Elizondo as Ed Alzate.

"Papa Bear" was written by Michael Shipley, and directed by Victor Gonzalez.

Didn't know this was still on. I watched the first season and gave up.

If this was on any other night besides Friday it would have died a long time ago. Then again there are several shows I can't believe are on yet they are hits. Apparently I am a very poor judge of what should be popular.

Series cancelled in spite of good ratings...

http://ew.com/tv/2017/05/10/last-man...ing-cancelled/

Tim Allen’s sitcom has been canceled by ABC after six seasons.

The long-running comedy has been something of an anomaly. Due to modest ratings, Last Man Standing has been considered “on the bubble” for a renewal every season since it launched in 2011. Yet the Friday night show always managed to squeak into another year — until now.

The show’s final season averaged 8.1 million viewers and a 1.6 rating among adults 18-49.
I binge watched the first 5 seasons last Fall and am catching up on the 6th season now. I'm enjoying it... especially the eps that hearken back to Home Improvement. ;)

I enjoyed this show for what it was. It was kind of Friday night filler but I still enjoy the traditional sitcom format and this was one of the only remaining modern versions of that. I'll miss the show.

A few of the conspiracy theorists think it was because of his conservative views given the ratings were OK.

I was shocked that it was cancelled. It would sometimes win the 18-49 demo on Fridays....

I'll miss it. It wasn't a great show, but for what it was it was good. I like that it was pretty much the only show that dared to make fun of liberals.

So I got started watching LMS from catching a few episodes with parents. I think I have binged three seasons since Sunday on Hulu. I keep seeing more news of Tim Allen saying the outpouring of fan support is there to bring it back. Would any network pick it up. Especially in the Roseanne revival she's supposed to be A Trump supporter.

The Lady who runs ABC must have hated it since its done nothing but bash Obama. All I have taken from the news online is that Tim Allen is still trying to bring it back. Maybe a Cable Network could pick it up. Hallmark carried the reruns, and so has CMT. I've loved all the cameos from former Home Improvement actors, and call backs to the show.
