Episode 3 of 24

If you missed the news last week, this got a full season order (24 episodes)

Not that it matters with this show, but apparently tonight's episode is 105.

Beginning was jarring and obviously not 103. Otherwise, funniest ep yet.

It had some laughs but still felt somewhat off. It's like the show struggles to keep any momentum going.

Jarring in what way.

The beginning where they're talking about the wedding and set up everything the episode is about?

I agree. A good example is the black dude and the kid. They built it up, then it went to a dance off, which could have been funny, but they ended it far too quickly on a lame gag of him dancing with Jess. Or, again with the black guy, he makes a big deal about not wanting people to ask him what he's doing or where he's working, and then they have one guy ask him and he just blows through it. There wasn't even a joke there.

All the stuff with Jess making Caroline jealous was great. Especially "What about our baby?! AND OUR OTHER BABY!"

Zooey looked amazing, but the episode fell apart once Nick got drunk over Caroline. The ending was too saccarine to work.

I'm going to give it one more episode, and if it's not bringing the laughs consistently by then, I'm dropping it.

I'm glad I didn't drop it last week as planned...this episode seemed to click a little more with me.

I hadn't watched before tonight but had it on in the background and ended up watching it.

Pretty cute little show, although I wasn't interested in a character or two. I'll try to watch it again and see if I enjoy it as well as I did tonight.

Yeah that part, for some reason their connection with Jess just seemed leaps and bounds ahead of where it was in the 2nd ep. I know it's a silly comment for a Sitcom but still.

I agree it was a tad uneven, thus far all the episodes have been, but it's gotten the biggest laughs out of me so far, especially the Jess vs Caroline stuff.

I thought the same thing... but as someone said... this was episode 5 not 3...so that explains it.

That explains it. I'm tempted to say this was a pretty good episode.

Best of the bunch so far, but I wasn't too hot on the previous ones. The stuff with Jess was OK, but the other character stories was ho-hum.

Liked this episode better than the first two. I'm all in. Plus its sandwiched between two shows that have season passes on DVR so its a slam dunk

This was perhaps the best scripted TV I've seen in four and a half years.

OK, OK... it was pretty good.

Natasha Lyonne must be trying to get back on a career path. She's quite larger than she used to be, but hey if she's better off than she was with all her legal problems, then more power to her.

I want to like this because I love Zooey Daschanel but I haven't really been getting this one yet. They're making her too much of a flake right now.

I guess it depends on your taste, but I find the way they write her character the best part of the show. She's such a goofball that it's hilarious.

I still think the show is uneven, but when it's funny, it's laugh-out-loud funny. The slow chicken dance at the end was classic!

For some reason, whenever I hear her name (I suppose this only comes up when people talk about American Pie) I always assume she's dead. Wasn't she nearly gone relatively recently?

Re: New Girl -- "Wedding" -- 10/04/11

Slightly better than last week, but the dance off did very little for me, as did the ending chicken dance. Zooey's character continues to grate on my nerves.

This show still comes off as as a work in progress and feels severely disjointed to me.

Guys

Can any of you identify the 80s song that was playing in the wedding scene? It has lyrics like "I try" or something like that... I recognised it and its driving me crazy!
