Synopsis: Spoiler:
Episode 3 of 13 New timeslot tonight at 8pm. A little ratings note. It was reported today that last week's 2 hour premiere jumped up to 4.1 in the demos with DVR playback factored in. Jon Cassar, who is directing the season finale, says they are in the last week of production. |
Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
If they stick to dinosaurs attacking people, it might stand a chance.

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
my instinct is to stop watching, but I won't just yet

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
So were jeeps without doors the best design decision when going cruising in the dinosaur era?
|
Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
I'm just not feeling it. I think I'm out.
|
Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
This episode was about 10 times better than the pilot. Too bad they probably lost half their viewers after last week! I actually ENJOYED tonight's episode!

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
Dumb. I'll watch again next week.

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
I think it was a big step up as well. Huge improvement in characters and their interactions.

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
Still having a hard time caring for a single character on this show, and the father and son in particular REALLY get on my nerves. The writing is paper thin, the characters totally lacking in personality, and the whole thing is so predictable. It's like generic TV show plus dinosaurs. I'm done.

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
My DVR said this was episode 4. This episode kind of felt as though it was aired out of order, odd.
Anyway, I too enjoyed it -- nice pre-historic take on The Birds. |
Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
I'm surprised some of you thought this was a step up. I thought it was a major step down from the pilot. I mean, really, there's so much to explore with creating a new life in the past, and they go for a non-progressing birds plot in the second episode? And if the preview for next week is any indication, this is going to be a Star Trek problem-of-the-week type series.
I hope it gets better. I really want to like it and I really liked the pilot, but geesh. |

I'm out too. It should be interesting to see how much the ratings drop from week to week

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
soon as they showed the swarm on the horizon I expected Riddick to pop up, kill a few guards, kill a few dino-whatever, then leave back into the jungle....
still, not a bad ep.. I mean the show is only two eps in, it takes time to build up the characters etc.. So far I still like it.. |
Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
"Let's see - 3 soldiers were brutally killed the other night by something from the sky, and now there are 2 huge fucking prehistoric birds with sharp claws sitting on our fence...hey, let's throw a rock at 'em!"

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
I appreciate that they used horny pterodactyls as a plot point.
Never saw that shit on the Flintstones. |
Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
It was a cool episode. I thought the prehistoric birds were fun and well animated. Their attack on Terra Nova and later at the Shannon home was well directed by Cassar.
 Most importantly IMO, Josh wasn't an annoying douche like he was in "Genesis" last week. I did think it was funny that alot of the episode focused on Jim and Elizabeth trying to get it on.....and how about that, your house was attacked by prehistoric birds and is a wreck, they have some cuts and bruises and they are so ready to jump each others bones. Not surprised this seems to be that this is getting alot of the similar negative feedback that Falling Skies got this past summer. I assume so many had really high expectations because of all the promos/hype and Spielberg's name attached. Oh well, to each their own. The show isn't perfect and will no doubt experience alot of 1st season growing pains. |

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
It was ok. Definitely a throw back to the Star Trek days.
I wonder how many people live in what seemed like a dozen houses. The camp just doesn't seem very big for as many people as they show. The dino's still look a bit rubbery, but I can live with that. The character are the typical Irwin Allen (Lost in Space) type. Stoic hero Father leads the group. Everyone is polite and intelligent. I wonder when we will find out what the oldest boy's "skill" is. Clearly it isn't playing guitar. He has to do something besides flirt with the hot chick. My guess is he will end up being just like his dad. The mother and daughter have been tokens so far, but that was standard in 70's sci-fi. Kind of a trademark of the early 70's dramas was to have a group standing together at the end of the episode and use a play on words to get them all laughing. The bonding moment. The dinosaur name at the end reminded me of Star Trek ... "Where they'll be no Tribble at all." |

What chick? Your going to have to be more specfic. You can always look it up yourself on IMDB.com. I looked up a few of the women and none of them were on Fringe.

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
Hmmm ... in addition to all that tech equipment, they also dragged a crapload of cliches back with them ..... military view vs. science, the <i>"is my wife's old boyfriend still after her"</i> syndrome, etc. etc.

Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
This is as much a soap opera as it is an adventure show, and that ain't a good thing. I may give it one more week.
|
Re: Terra Nova -- "Instinct" -- 10/03/11
The writing is really bad. Plot (?) likewise. But I'll keep watching since I don't think they will renew this show.
They "fixed" the son, but now add a new soap opera element, the "boyfriend" from the past. *Yawn* I can see the writers room, where everyone wants the show to be one thing, and at the end they decide that the show can be everything. Wrong. They should have gone the baddass route, and we would have a winner here. |
