"I have no idea what 'Hammer Time' is."

Possibly the best deadpan voiceover comedy moment of the entire series. Great episode, I have a lot of hope for this season.

Great start. I like that it seems the big bad of the season seems to be driven by religion... Could end up giving a cool "Se7en" vibe.

Good to have this back.

Dexter dancing and not getting what "Hammertime" is was awesome. Loved his reaction after getting the blow job from the blonde hottie. There was some great comedy during the reunion scenes.

Great start. Good mix of humor in the story too. Hanks and Olmos look like really interesting villains this season. The snakes planted in the stomach was pretty cool. at Vince's intern fainting. I also liked how it mixed 2 storylines with Dexter getting revenge for his classmates death and then the main story arc with Olmos and Hanks.

Thank God that Batistia and LaGuerta are divorced. Smartest thing the Dexter writers ever did.

at Angel freaking out about people thinking his sister might be his girlfriend.

That was a pretty badass shootout at the end with Deb.

Did everyone go to bed early tonight or forget to renew their Showtime subscription? Geez, I'm surprised only 3 people including myself are talking about it. This is usually one of the most anticipated shows every Fall.

Oh well, if your watching it Monday or later in the week, your in for a great start.

Great episode. So happy it's back.

My guess for the season:

Spoiler:
I'm putting my money on Olmos being a "ghost" like dear old dad.

That would be very cool.

An interesting development is that Dexter's choice of weapon seems to be wide open now. The opening bit was quite a departure. Was that explained last season?

Another "dark passenger." Didn't that happen in one of the books?

For a sec I thought Deb might actually die in the restaurant shoot out.

Spoiler:
I gave up on the books as soon as it veered into the supernatural (i.e. the "dark passenger" was a demon).

Re: Dexter -- Season Premiere -- "Those Kinds of Things" -- 10/02/11

Not the greatest episode, was all over the place. I assume the pace will relax now that all the storylines are established.

So, when Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter got married, we were "treated" to a story about having a co-worker as a spouse. Now that they are divorced, the storyline followed suit. Coincidence?

Actually, it seemed that in earlier seasons, he was more creative with the kills, and it was in season 3 that he started using just the knife.

Great start to the new season. Set everything up nicely. I forgot how much it sucks waiting a week with this show. I kinda hate when shows skip time, like this, but I'm sure they'll make it work.

I loved the episode. Great sorta high school revenge fantasy.

I'm thinking the season will end with Quinn and Deb's wedding or Quinn dead. Either one.

Re: Dexter -- Season Premiere -- "Those Kinds of Things" -- 10/02/11

Am I thinking too much into the fact that while I assume Dexter used a burner cell phone to call 911, that his call was recorded? A guess a voice isn't that much to go on but it's still a call that would be investigated I'd think...

Great episode. I also think this season will be great with the main villain.

Not to be a buzz kill for those who don't have Showtime, but that's the edited TV-14 version. They usually just post the 1st episode as a special preview to get people to subscribe.

I just figured out that Masuka's hot blonde student was the speedster girl on Heroes. Hopefully, we'll be seeing more of her.

I hope we never have a scene that requires Dexter to dance for the rest of the run of the show. Otherwise, I thought it set things up pretty well. It wasn't the best Dexter episode ever or anything like that, but it got the ball moving. The snakes were pretty cool.

Sure as hell beat the scintillating plot last year, where the kids decided to leave and Dexter had to find, gasp, a nanny.

Two things seemed very obvious to me (I won't spoiler it because it is guess based only on the info given in this episode - I didn't watch the preview):

1) They REALLY focused on Harry, far more than I can remember them ever in a single episode, and in several different situations. It made me think they were almost reminding the viewers that he was still around and demonstrating how Harry gets involved in even the trivial things. Maybe setting up the juxtaposition between him and Olmos?

2) I noticed Olmos never did anything physical, just told the young guy what to do.
