Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Castiel (Misha Collins) continues to struggle with the burdens that come with his new-fangled power. The broken wall in Sam's (Jared Padalecki) head causes him to have hallucinations, and he has difficulty discerning what's real and what's not. Bobby (Jim Beaver) worries that Dean is beginning to stumble under the weight of fighting Castiel and keeping an eye on Sam. Guy Bee directed the episode written by Ben Edlund (#703).

Good episode tonight, this season is starting way better than the last.

Very good episode - didn't like how it was chopped up at the end for commercials though.

What a dark start to this season......the one write up was right so far...they have no time to hide or settle down.

The Sam story thing was done pretty well this episode actually and maybe it will be over soon.

Really hope that's not the end of Cas.

Only a handful of posts, dang the following on DVDtalk is really dwindling on Supernatural...

I've liked the first two episodes of the season. Hopefully there will be more Castiel, but we'll have to wait and see. The episode sequences are quite a bit different from years past. Their tends to be more of a cliffhanger after each episode, where prior years would have a clean resolution at the end. It's different, but I think it works so far. I like it so far, although it would be really nice if the whole Angels/Demons religious aspect of the show would start shifting back to more urban legend / monsters... just my $0.02.

I usually post for every thread but I honestly was going to stop cause I didn't want to be annoying but now that you have said the above......I ain't gonna stop ;)

And the main reason for this post.......I agree, I actually dug the urban legend/monster stuff a bit more as well with the "Jester" episode being one of my all time favs.

No Castiel means this will get moved to the DVR and watched randomly.

I like Castiel's character, but I've never considered him the central figure of the show. There's no way Misha's gone for good anyway, yet there seems to be a faction of fans who think that he's the end-all-be-all. I don’t know what they were doing for the first 3 years before he showed up, but if the showrunners decide that story is done, then I'm honestly fine with it.

IMO, the Angels/God/Satan angle was enjoyable, but has been played to death in this series the last few seasons, and I, for one, wouldn't object to seeing a gradual shift back to two brothers bonding and bickering while exploring urban legends/monsters etc. to the accompaniment of some good classic rock.

Agreed. Castiel was never the central figure of the show, and I'm actually surprised that he was around for as long as he was. The show seemed much stronger before he came aboard, as they seemed to use having an angel on their team as a crutch too often. Bring back some of the other hunters, and get the boys back to the urban legends and monsters.

This season is definitely starting out strong. And now they've got Aceveda as the heavy. The Dr. Sexy stuff was great, too.

Finally watched this. Good episode. Have last night's episode recorded so haven't watched yet.

As far as Cas goes, people seem to have forgotten that it was Misha Collins' idea to have his role on the show reduced. Wants to be able to spend more time with his family. He'll definitely be back later this season.

Some of the Supernatural fan base on Twitter and Tumblr are batshit crazy when it come to Cas. I love Misha/Cas but the show is about the Boys, the car and sometimes Bobby. They need to get over it..

Yeah, good stuff. I'm also fine with moving away from the Angel/heaven stuff and getting back to more monsters. It also wouldn't hurt them to introduce some more good guys, even if it's only for cannon fodder.

This is the thread for the SEPT 30TH ep. Please don't talk about things from the latest ep without spoiler tags. Thanks!
