Whitney - Series Premiere

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1850458/

I'm after a few more brainless sitcoms to watch . This one wasn't too bad at all, good main characters and quite funny

This doesn't air until next week. I assume it was leaked online.

^^^ TWC has it available now OnDemand (SD only, no HD). I believe it's also available at NBC.com too.

I was really disappointed in the show. I know Whitney Cummings can be much funnier than she is on this show, and the pilot seemed to rely waaaaaayyy too much on traditional sitcom tropes (a laugh track, really?*). Still, pilots can be kind of stiff, so I'll give it a few episodes before making a judgement on this. Especially if Whit keep wearing outfits like that (Whitney Cummings = strange crush of mine.)

* - actually, the show is supposedly taped before a studio audience. So it's not really a canned laugh track, but it's still there.

I love Whitney, but she is an offensive, adult comic.

A PG sitcom will never work for her. Check out her uncensored stand-up routines if you want to see what she's capable of.

Maybe an HBO or Showtime sitcom would've worked.

Thanks for the tip! I like offensive, adult comedy but haven't heard of her; I'll check out some of her specials.

As for HBO/Showtime I'm just waiting for NBC or someone to do an uncensored HBO style comedy and just releasing it on NBC.com/Unbox/iTunes etc and using the TV network to promote it (ads, Leno etc).

It's available in HD OnDemand here. I just watched it and it was bad.

It seems like I have seen every episode so far as well. The promos have been relentless. Also it looks like shit as well. So I will be skipping it but my wife wants to see it.

I would rather get eye cancer than watch this crap. I feel so bad for that guy in the commercials, you can literally see a small part of his soul dwindling everytime he has to regurgitate out one of those pathetic lines.

Whitney Cummings is the female Dane Cook. Enough said.

There hasn't been a weekly thread for this show in awhile but i have to saying although i wasn't a fan early on the last few weeks of this show have been very funny. Tonight's was very good.

The only reason I'm still watching this show is it's timeslot. It's on right after Community, Parks and Rec and the Office so it's a fine time waster before I get to It's Always Sunny and the League.

But I agree it has picked up a bit lately. It's still not good but I don't hate it. The plots are cliche and the jokes are flat but there might be a good laugh or two in there per episode.

I saw it for the first time last night while waiting on Sunny/League and thought it was amusing. I find the Whitney especially hot for some reason.

I've seen her in person. Whoever does her make up should win an Emmy.

I thought from the premiere ep she looked good, or at least the kinda look i'm into but when i googled her it was somewhat disappointing ;)

Watched the third episode on demand, in which she accused her boyfriend of checking out another girl--geez, one situation harangued over for 22 minutes. I did find her hot, though.

I don't think the show has gotten better, hell the funniest thing about last nighty's episode was the that the name of it was Two Broke-Up Guys, making reference to Whitney's other show 2 Broke Girls.

What sucks with this show is that not only are they used tired and cliched sitcom stories, they're not bringing anything new to the table with them. 2 Broke Girls isn't reinventing the wheel over on CBS, but it at least feels fresher. Most of that is the strength of the leads, but it still feels like something that has a reason to be on the air.

Other than Whitney in various states of undress, what dos this show have?

The thing I like most about the show is the chemistry between the two leads. Even when the writing isn't there (which is most of the time), Whitney and Chris d'Elia play off each other very well.

You know what, I will give you that. They do come off as at least a plausible couple due to their chemistry. I think I read they were at least friends in real life prior to the show, so that probably helps.

The other couple in the group (the Indian and the redhead) does not share this quality, and come off as a total TV concoction. Really I'd say everyone else in the cast are horrible one note characters.
