They were pretty specific about being undead is what's against his religion. Don't ever recall hearing anything about him being gay though.

I seemed to recall some odd sequences in S2 between him and Jason. Here's what the actor Michael McMillan had to say.

I took it more as just a joke. Zombies are the new vampire in terms of popularity. Zombie Farm game, zombie t-shirts everywhere, etc.

I'm not a vampire but I could cry blood after watching this show. At this point I only watch it because the wife wants to.

Vampires are, technically, dead.

Tara's gonna get vamped.

I think it might have been much more entertaining to make Steve's wife a vamp and have him have to deal with that...but then again, I'm probably just thinking about what a hot vampire she'd make.

Go back and watch the scene where Newlin knocks on Jason's door and tell me that he doesn't look totally gay for him. Unless straight guys usually check out other men's packages and sigh in appreciation, lol.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with Tara but it seems a bit redundant to bring back a vampire-hater as a vampire when it's already being done with Newlin. Either way, I hope she is coming back because I like her character.

There could be some interesting stuff there in there though, by showing two different sides of it. Tara comes back, is embraced by her family and friends, but is just miserable with what she's become; meanwhile Newlin is forced to leave his old life behind, but absolutely cutting loose and ecstatic at being a vampire.

It's a fun idea, except we'll probably get a 10:1 ratio scenewise of Tara crying and bitching up a storm, versus Steve camping it up.

Plus you'd have her mother who is super religious now with a daughter who is undead.

However anything that gives us more Tara screen time is a bad thing in my opinion. Putting her in the background like this past season is the best thing for me as a viewer if they're not going to keep her dead.

I don't think Tara will be back as a vamp. If it hadn't been headshot, I could see that as a possibility but it was too deliberately shown as fatal. My guess is she's back as a ghost only Layfayette can see.

Great finale to a great season.

Doesn't matter if it's the writers or her, the bottom line is I think she's a horrible character.

Was great to see characters from seasons past -- namely Rene and Steve. Looking forward to the likelihood of Russell's return Overall, I enjoyed the finale quite a bit.

They can easily do Zombies on the show. Not the flesh eating kind but rather the original voodoo zombie ones.

Lame finale. Lame season.

They totally skipped over the whole faerie thing. It started the season and then there is the encounter with the sheriff yet never do the writers insert any content dealing with them. Weak.

I assume because they're building up to that in the next season or the season after that even.

What? Sookie's fairy powers/blood came up more than once, Eric killed one of the fairies a few episodes in and what happened to Andy obviously set up next season.
