Re: FOX and UFC announce multi year deal

Does this mean they are no longer interested in buying G4?

Re: FOX and UFC announce multi year deal

I believe so... They said in the press conference that they weighed the options of having a UFC Network or this deal..and they decided that they weren't up to running a network.

already in the sports section. And per the press conference, Fuse (which is MTV's big competitor and still plays music videos) won't become a full blown ufc network

So is Jay Glazer creaming in his pants right now?

to more free fights. sucks we'll have to endure stupid commercials, but i'm willing to pay that price not to have to pay the ridiculous PPV prices.

oh no, we'll still have the PPV's every month. dana said that they're still a pay per view company. The deal with Fox is to bring more exposure to the sport (and they'll try to put big fights on the Fox shows.

First UFC on Fox show is November 12

no matter how you look at it, we're getting more free fights than we've had in the past. i know they will continue to do PPVs, since that's where the money is.

This is great news, for both the fans and sport. This should be really great. I'm really looking forward to it.

Interesting move. Anyone remember the last time boxing was shown on network TV?

Not that boxing and UFC are related, I'm just curious how long fights have been off the airwaves.

The now extinct group Elite XC (which eventually merged with Strikeforce) had a deal with CBS, and had mainly fights with Kimbo Slice in the main event.
At least we wont have to hear Gus Johnson make an ass out of himself

Re: FOX and UFC announce multi year deal

this might not be good for TNA... if Spike changes their format, wwe would easily buy them

or

if Spike puts the pressure on TNA, TNA will have to deliver to keep them on

Re: FOX and UFC announce multi year deal

I prefer FX to Spike. Ultimate Fighter was the only thing I ever watched on Spike, so I'm cool with this from a convenience standpoint. Also, a big for more free fights.

Gus works for Fox now so don't be surprised if he shows up. I wouldn't be surprised if Jay Glazer and him are the hosts on the studio show.

Im surprised Gus would still do the showtime events (unless he's required too) as showtime is appart of CBS.

I hope they don't show many on "Fuel," which is not in HD.
I actually thought Spike was a great fit, but I'll watch it wherever--7-year deal sounds very promising.

Re: FOX and UFC announce multi year deal

Those XC fights on CBS were impossible to watch. Tons of commercials and introductions that were longer than the fights themselves. It didn't surprise me when they started having trouble. I'm sure Fox will keep a similiar format to Spike. Replay old fights, periodic free fights and Ultimate Fighter
