Awesome shows with 1 or 2 terrible episodes?

I was having this discussion with some friends...

What are some great shows that have one or two episodes that you just hated?

Most recent would be Breaking Bad's "The Fly" for me. The Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where he died falls into the same category for me.

Like everyone else, I thought the first "dream" episode in Season 2 or 3 of The Sopranos was terrific. But when they went back to that well, and stretched it out to a couple of episodes in Season 5 or 6, I found the whole thing worthless and wastful.

I'm in agreement about Curb. Also the Opening Night episode was painful.

I really don't understand the hate for Breaking Bad's, The Fly episode. It wasn't a terrible episode by any means. Just because it wasn't action packed or whatever it was a good two man show that built on Walt and Jesse's partnership.

The pilot for Burn Notice is enough to turn people off the show.

It was insanely boring and the whole idea of chasing a god damn fly for 45 minutes was just stupid and very un-Breaking Bad. Also Jessie's last line to Walt kinda reset all the "bonding" they did during the episode.

IMO

Seinfeld - The Finale part 1 & 2. As much as I loved the show, I hated the finale so much it took me a good year before I could even watch the show in repeats again.

The last three episodes of Arrested Development fall into this category for me. After they found out the show wasn't being renewed they all just said "Fuck it", and it gets really terrible.

I loved The Sopranos, but Tony Soprano's coma induced "Kevin Finnerty" storyline was very boring and trying for us fans.

Pretty much every Star Trek TNG episode that revolved around Beverly, Wesley or Troi's mom. Unfortunately that's a Hell of a lot more than 1 or 2 episodes though.

Agreed. I hated the pilot but I liked the premise, so I watched a second episode, which was infinitely better. Now it's one of my favorite shows, but I almost missed out on it because the pilot really sucked.

Also, The Killing episode where Linden had to track down her annoying little shit of a son. A boring, filler episode that didn't advance the central Larsen mystery at all.

The entire sixth season of Supernatural.

What was it about the Burn Notice pilot that people didn't like? I haven't seen it since it first aired, but I remember loving the show from the start.

Re: Awesome shows with 1 or 2 terrible episodes?

I haven't seen it in ages but it just didn't gel. Oh and it featured Michael's brother which is always a low point. The premise was worth sticking around a few more episodes though. I recommended it to a friend and he said he sent the disc back to Netflix after the first episode before i had the chance to tell him to stick with it. I would have bailed too but my brother convinced me to keep watching.

I'll also add the two episodes of Entourage featuring Dom. Holy crap he sucked all the fun out of the show.

It wasn't the best way to end the show but let's face it Seinfeld was a show that pretty much no matter how it ended people were bound to be disappointed. Plus even though I didn't think it was the best it had some good moments and I liked all the cameos from the memorable guest stars throughout the show's history.
