Great episode. Surprisingly Daphne wasn't annoying.

Kind of sad that she was recruited to that basketball team only because they needed a handicapped person for a grant.

Really liked her conversation with Angelo on why he left their family. That was very moving and good acting by Marini and Katie LeClerc.

One thing that I thought was so powerful about this episode was that alot of the most compelling conversations were in sign language. I'm sure this show will get recognized for what it's done for the hearing impaired community.

Interesting revelevation at the end about Angelo. Maybe he raised some money in not so legit ways.

Another good episode although Emmett getting arrested was a bit anti climactic :)

And way to go ABC Family! Half-a-screen-sized promos covering the subtitles when the characters are signing. Good job!

:grunt: That was so annoying. If your going to put promos on the screen, don't do it in the middle of sign language conversation with subtitles.

Another really good episode.

Really loving this show way more than I thought I would.

While the arrest was anti-climactic and I knew Emmet and Bay would get back together at the end, but it still was pretty emotional when he said sometimes he hates "hearing people" it wasn't to sappy or emo which it coulda been. I could easily understand it.

 Great episode

I had to comment before this thread got forgotten since this show doesn't really get priority viewing by those who do watch it.

I was really mad when Daphne decided to create that story about the hearing aid to get the money from John and Kathryn for Emmett's bike.

I think this show deals with scenes like that and the ramifications of doing something that stupid so well. Very good scene when Daphne came clean to Kathryn. at her initial plan to sell $5 cupcakes.

Re: Switched at Birth -- "Les Soeurs d'Estrees" -- 1/24/12

I really like this show a lot. Having so many anticlimactic scenes may make the show more "normal",but it doesn't necessarily make compelling TV. I swore when Bay & Emmet got on the motorcycle they were going to get into an accident or get a ticket or skip town ... Nope they went somewhere. A couple weeks ago we had the great scene leading up to Emmett's arrest and last week it fizzled.

It's a low key show. I get that, but it stalls way to often. I still think the show is great, the characters likeable and the dialog smart ... but something needs to happen.

You know, it's a really funny casting choice to have Meredith Baxter playing Lea Thompson's mother.

They both played Michael J. Fox's mother at the same time in 1985.

Episode 22 of 32

Last episode until Fall. And yes, there is still 10 more episodes left for season 1.

Good 1st season, although this show is quite low key. Maybe if Bay and Daphne turned into Zombies this show would get more attention here? :D ;)

Well a major part of last episode had them making a zombie movie so Walking Dead is infecting other shows.

Haven't watch the finale yet, but I still enjoy the show immensely.
The episode 2 weeks ago was fantastic. So many great moments.
The zombie episode was fun.

Re: Switched at Birth -- Spring Finale -- "Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time" -- 3/20/12

FYI, this premieres on September 3rd and believe it or not, it's still the 1st season.

Okay, sorry for the bump after 5 months, but I was a few episodes behind at the time and just finished up the season last week on Netflix. I had to delete the ABC Family recordings due to lack of DVR space and thankfully Netflix had all 22 episodes.

Anyways, I really enjoyed the 1st 22 episodes including the Spring Finale. It wasn't perfect though. Is it just me or did Emmett become really unlikeable towards the end of this season? Not only did he cheat on Bay, but he was such a whiney and angry douche. There were instances where he just behaved like a baby. I was glad in this episode that he at least had some remorse and fessed up to Bay. I was also a little annoyed that they teased some kind of sexual tension between Kathryn and that lawyer. One of the strongest points of this show IMO was the relationship between John and Kathryn as the moral center of the show. I hope they don't fuck that up.

Lastly. I felt bad for Regina. She's getting into that new guy and now she's forced to marry Angelo to keep him from getting deported.

I am looking forward to this returning next month.

BTW, I have to say that Constance Marie is such an underrated actress. She's great on this show and was great in a few other things I've seen her in (American Family on PBS) and no I did not watch her on George Lopez. She's hot and has such good presence on screen. I'm glad this show is giving her a chance to shine. Alot of actresses her age (47) would have a hard time staying in this business.

Switched at Birth -- Season 1 continues (Fall 2012) -- Mondays ABC Family

<img src="http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6836/switchedatbirth.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/>

Returns tonight on ABC Family for the final 10 episodes of season 1.

In case your counting, season 1 is 32 episodes. 22 have already aired last summer and this past Spring.

Was trying to decide whether to do this as 1 thread or weekly and I have to go 1 thread this time around. As evidenced by my "Why aren't you watching.... thread" most in this forum don't watch ABC Family. But I know there are a few who do watch this, this show at least deserves 1 thread.

This is a really terrific family drama like Parenthood and isn't cheesy or catered to little girls. There are some really good adult characters here with Lea Thompson and Constance Marie.

BTW, this was renewed for a 2nd season, which will start airing in early 2013.

Synopsis for "This Is the Color of My Dreams"

Spoiler:
Bay returns from a trip abroad with a new boyfriend, but she must face issues from her past concerning Emmett and Angelo. Meanwhile, Daphne seeks employment help from Kathryn; and Regina impulsively makes a big decision.

With the new Fall season starting in about 2 weeks it's probably unlikely most of you who haven't watched this yet would be willing to go back, but the 1st 22 episodes are on Netflix.

 Very good premiere episode tonight.

Some great acting by the cast, especially Vanessa Marrano and Constance Marie. Constance Marie IMO is such an underrated actress.

Emmett is a douche for what he did and I'm glad they didn't resolve things with him and Bay nice and tidy.

Pretty desperate act by Regina to help Angelo. Surprised that the court would let them do that so fast. Wouldn't that seem fishy? Sucks to be Regina's boyfriend.

 I'm hooked on a few ABC Family shows, I'm glad I'm not the only one. Between the network title (evokes thoughts of kiddie shows) and their own marketing (definitely aimed at teen girls) I'm not surprised people are hesitant to give these shows a shot.

This show has really surprised me in the way it was able to take a gimmicky premise and really develop it into something more, so that the 'switched at birth' angle is more of a backdrop informing the story than the focus of every storyline. They've also managed to show the whole deaf lifestyle in a way I've not seen before, and address its issues in a natural way without coming off too cloying. Yes, it does occasionally veer into cheesiness every once in a while, but infrequently enough that I can overlook it. :)

Switched at Birth -- Season 2 -- ABC Family

<img src="http://imageshack.us/a/img24/6836/switchedatbirth.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/>

Synopsis for "The Door to Freedom"

In the second-season opener, a newly wealthy Angelo buys expensive presents for everyone. Meanwhile, John and Kathryn contemplate entering the political arena; Bay faces cheating accusations; and Daphne lands in hot water because of Jeff.

2nd season premieres tonight. 20 episodes. Unlike season 1 which had 30 episodes. I'm surprised that ABC Family still hasn't released the last 20 episodes of season 1 on DVD.

Does anyone else here besides me and Jadzia watch this? Or is this a show you let build up unwatched and then watch in spurts?

FYI, Gilles Marini (Angelo) is now a series regular.

I watched it when it started, but ABC Family makes it hard to watch their shows. Unlike just about every other cable network, ABC Family doesn't reair their shows on the same night, in fact they don't repeat this episode until next monday. So I'm 7 episodes behind or so because of this.

I just looked and it now seems like they are doing a second airing now. Except that it's at 10PM, which is an even bigger clusterfuck for me. Oh well, I'll catch up at some point.

Do you have Netflix? The entire 1st season is on there.

Also episodes 23-30 from season 1 are still on Hulu.com. The episodes also got posted on ABC Family's website or Hulu.com the day after it airs. I think it's a 2-3 week window.

I know this probably isn't on your priority list, but it is possible for you to catch up.
