Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Conclusion. Suspicions arise that danger may indeed lurk at the children's safe haven. Before long, Mike happens upon a harrowing truth and an unanticipated enemy emerges.

Episode 7 of 10

Falling Skies was at Comic Con on Friday. I followed the live Tweets and Executive Producer Mark Verheiden said there will be no flashbacks to the initital Skitter invasion. He said that was ordered by Steven Spielberg when they developed the show. They are only moving forward.

He also said they have already mapped out season 2 and have a plan for the end of the series.

Well, with 2 episodes left (the last must be a 2-hour finale), it's kind of a disappointment, thus far. V and The Event were both better than what has been shown so far. My expectations weren't sky high, but I have to say with Spielberg's name attached to it, I was expecting a little more. Maybe it'll pick up and improve, but that seems less likely each week.

And, then the eldest son is starting to flirt with other girls, but still no mention of Karen. Strange.

I'm out... I can't do it anymore and not showing the invasion is inexcusable.

She had to have been written out at this point, right?

I like how they tell us that the Skitters value children more than anything else and even have a "quota" that they have to meet. Yet, in an earlier episode we saw a Skitter kill an entire group of children in front of another child, and then let that child go, just to prove a point?! Thats the kind of writing thats been plaguing this show from the beginning.

Maybe they already hit their numbers for the quarter ;)

:thmbsdwn: to no Skitters or Mechs in this episode.

I didn't really like this episode. For the conclusion of a big 2-parter, this wasn't pretty disappointing. This 2-parter was pretty pointless when you think about it.

Clayton turned out to be a pretty lame villain/traitor. So he makes a deal with the Skitters so his flock of men can survive.... asshole.

-ohbfrank- and oh boy, Pope's back. Can't wait to see what he brings to the table after being MIA.

I have to say that Mike was pretty stupid to stay behind and think he could take on Clayton's group by himself. I really had no attachment to the character to seeing him die (off camera especially) was pretty meh.

As far as them not showing a flashback episode for the initial Skitter invasion...If Spielberg doesn't want to do it and this show is his baby (next to Terra Nova) then I guess the writers hands are tied. I do think a flashback episode/segment will add a little more to these characters. I kind of like Tom, Anne and to a certain extent Captain Weaver, but I think at least briefly showing what their lives were like beforehand would add to the characters. Hell, when Jericho was in season 1, they dedicated a full episode to "The Day Before" and it worked really well IMO.

That guy is getting "boy band" level ass. Every chick is into him now. Karen, the chick who was going to med school, the soccer playing traitor girl, and now Sarah Sanguine Cynical Skies Carter holds his hand at the funeral in a most luxurious way. Moon Bloodgood better keep her chastity belt cinched tightly.

I have five bucks that says the men will be giving him handys next season. He will have run out of available women.

Yeah, that's what I thought too, since it's been like 3-4 episodes since she's been gone and they haven't mentioned her in at least 2-3 episodes.

He didn't think he could take on Clayton's group. He sacrificed himself so that the kids would have a better chance to escape.

Still waiting for something to get excited about. I actually kind of like the middle kid that they rescued. One of the few characters I give the slightest shit about so far.

Am I crazy, or in the first couple eps was the med school chick supposed to be younger? Like, not even out of HS young.

I thought so, considering she was lusting after the ungettable Hal.

An incoherently plotted series, Falling Skies is really not much more than paint-by-numbers sci-fi with some obvious pandering to female viewers. This is Jericho all over again.

if he had used his sights he might have at least taken a few of them with him

I thought Jericho was much better than this show. I don't see any real excitement by anyone over this show, and certainly not any close enough to wage a peanut protest if it were cancelled.

But, amazingly, this show has already been renewed. Unless something dramatically changes in the next 2 weeks, I'd have no problem if they changed their minds and cancelled it.

V and The Event (esp the last half) were both better than this, too.

You mean to tell me that standing straight up from a covered position and exposing your entire upper body to the enemy, while shooting from the hip isn't an effective strategy in a firefight?

It's getting viewers. It averages over 4M viewers a week, which is great for TNT and that's why it got renewed. I still like the show to an extent, but I don't look forward to it anxiously every Sunday. Leverage, which follows it, gets my attention right away. But, I agree with you that Jericho was a better series.

My own nit for the episode was when they're being hunted by Clayton and his men, and the med school girl decides to play the piano in the house.

Going to stick with it to see what will eventually turn me off the show once and for all :).

That's the kind of stuff that just infuriates me. Why does it have to be stupid.

This show is so fucking cliched it's annoying but because it's the only sci-fi on, I'm still watching.

The whole series is bogged down by stupid plots like "Gruffy general looks down at pregnant woman > Gruffy general is needed to deliver said woman's baby." Really? There was no one else around?

One thing I do like is that there appears to be a hierarchy of aliens and that there is still an unseen version of alien invader. That and some teased ideas in the promos keep my interest.

I hate how most of these Post Apoc shows are all inhabited by pansies. If your survival is on the line and someone is threatening your safety - you exterminate with extreme prejudice. They should have killed that entire group, they leave a known threat around to come back and strike again.

they should have strung the collaborators up by their armpits, slit their bellies and put signs on them stating they were collaborators
