Was Hercule Poirot cancelled?
I know the great David Suchet, who has played the mercurial detective for 25 years, has said he wants to film the final 4 books, and finally complete the entire Hercule Poirot canon from Agatha Christie(something i wish Jeremy Brett was able to do with his Sherlock Holmes series). However, I know the IRC has said theat funding(public and private) has come to a halt, and that it is no longer profitable to make them. I remember Suchet countering with saying he would put up the money himself, to film the final 6 stories left to complete. Does anyone know what the latest news is with this? I have held off buying any of the Poirot sets, in hopes of getting the complete collection with all of them in it.

Despite speculation of cancellation early in 2011, further hints on the number of adaptions and the date of filming were revealed by Suchet in a televised interview in June 2011 for the showbiz 411, shortly after receiving a CBE from Prince Charles. Suchet stated "I'm not going to say anything until I've actually signed that contract but it looks as though we might be filming the last five Poirot books that I'm able to film (because that's all she wrote) in the autumn of next year [2012]. The green light's flickering but watch this space."
