New Haven is the 1st Stop:

Adam Richman heads to New Haven, Conn., to cheer on a college freshman who's attempting to eat 10 grilled cheeses within one hour in the premiere of this "Man v. Food" spin-off, which finds courageous chowhounds in cities across the country stepping up to the plate and taking on food challenges in their hometowns.
2nd episode tonight is Tampa

Adam coaches pro wrestler Jerry Sags as he attempts to finish 10 super spicy hot wings at Rapscallions in Land O' Lakes, Fla. While in the Sunshine State, the host also eats alligator wings and an authentic Cuban sandwich.
Adam explains in this blog why the show was rebranded this season:

He's right. Seeing one guy doing so many challenges did get boring. But I'm even less interested in watching "Joe Six-Pack of the week" doing it. And you know it's going to get gimmicky before long...first they'll have a girl, then a kid, then an old person, then a minor celebrity, etc.

I was hoping the quality of food in the challenges got better, but if it's just J6P doing them now, I don't see that happening.

Eh, Ill give it a chance tonight.

Anybody check out "United tastes of America"? I don't remember what channel it was on, but they had a marathon of it on Monday and I caught a few episodes. One was about fried chicken and some restaurant in CA actually makes..... red velvet cake chicken wings... wtf!

That why I thought he had to change the show or maybe take a year off to lose some weight. Will each show just be about an eating challenge or will Adam still visit two restaurants to check out local food, and then someone does an eating challenge.

Well they are getting the minor celebrity out of the way early. Jerry Sags is 1/2 of the Nasty Boys, who were in the WWF 20 years ago. They were also in TNA last year briefly.

I'm watching the first episode, and it seems like they didn't change anything about the show other than the name and the actual challenge. Richman as a coach/cornerman is actually an interesting twist. He would normally talk during the challenges anyway; now it's just without food in his mouth or all over his face.

A lot of the first 2 shows were shown during the 1-hour preview. Snore. Hopefully next week will be better.

His yucking it up is the worst part of the MvF shows. Such a tiring schtick. Hearing that he's now doing more of it makes this incarnation sound awful.

The last show was a little bit better than the first 2. It's good to see someone finally win a challenge. Still not sure if I like the format.

Too much with the hot stuff and the ghost peppers. At least the did use Rooster sauce on the pizza.

I still contend that a good majority of these creations are fake and just made up for the show.

They are made up. When he came to Cleveland and went to Melt, the owner admitted he was asked to create a challenge specifically for the filming.

I know the Philly cheesteak challenge at Tony Lukes was made up. All they did was put 6 cheesesteaks together. It has never been on the menu.

So the ones where they say "only 4 in 2,000 have succeeded." Those are made up? Some are definitely real, such as the 72 oz steak challenge at the Big Texan in Amarillo.

Well, of course some are real. No one's saying that every single challenge in the history of the freakin' show was made up.

The host doesn't look healthy. He never had those dark circles under his eyes before this season.
