I followed season 7 and enjoyed it, but now I think I had enough. I'm still watching a little here and there, maybe will get into this season later on.

I'm saving on DVR to watch later. I do NOT like the stunt judges.

I think they use the stunt judges to pad out the show when it's still in the 2-hour block, and the number of performances are dwindling as their . Carmen was pretty nondescript in her critiques.

Ryan needs to go, she gets all this praise, and I just don't find it warranted. She was out-of-sync with her partner Ricky, and not as dynamic in her movement.

That being said, the Salsa may do in Ash and Chris, though I don't find the pairing of Alex and Sasha all that interesting.

Caitlynn is giving Melaine a run for her money.

Not a lot of love for what has been a pretty good season (the first one I've watched since season 5). Ryan is a goner, so that probably means Ricky is too.

I haven't seen the results show, but since they are breaking up the pairs next week (final 10 get paired up with all-star partners in the last half of the season), just because Ryan could be gone doesn't mean Ricky is a goner.

SYTYCD Alum are in the new Rebecca Black video for "My Moment"...

Robert Roldan... he's got that "I'm gonna fire my agent" look.

Kent Boyd... oh well, Hollywood is better than Wapakoneta.

Oh, this week's judge is Neil Patrick Harris (7/20-21) with Lady Gaga judging the week after (7/27-28).

Is anyone else watching this year?

I felt like last night was really the night that got the whole season going. That Sasha/Twitch number was probably the best this season. Great Bollywood routine at the end, too. And NPH was witty and insightful...especially when he raked Tyce over the coals for another one of this annoying Broadway routines.

yep, I'm on it. I felt like last weeks choreography was weak sauce across the board.

But this week.....with the tyce-phonein-airline broadway a notable exception....the dances and choreography were fantastic.

(oh and....kathryn FTW)

I'm here. I'm about half way through the ep and that airplane dance was a weird moment.

NPH was a great judge. Nice to see Melody and other all-stars back.

Totally agree and I also think the right ones went home this week and the other 2 bottom dancers will go next week.

Re: SYTYCD -- So You Think You Can Dance -- Season 8 -- The Auditions begin 05/26/11

HAH!

Altho I railed against this show's over use of relying upon 'barely-qualified to be' guest judges, tonight's show with Lady Gaga was great.

Loved seeing her totally rip on Nappy Tab's tired routines. You could tell she loathes them and it was awkward to watch the other judges try to reverse the spin and say how they were actually so brilliant.

I totally agree with her on their reliance of props and she nailed it when she pointed out how more intelligent choreography would let the dancer suggest the idea of a rose being given to someone rather than just letting the dancer hand them a stupid plastic flower.

That's Nappy Tabs in a nutshell. They need to be retired from this show for a couple of seasons. Let Travis Wall have more routines instead of using them!

Having said that, Gaga you were a little annoying when you kept challenging Nigel seemingly just for the sake of challenging him.

At this point it seems pretty obvious that Melanie has this one in the bag unless she break an ankle or something in which case Sasha wins.

Re: SYTYCD -- So You Think You Can Dance -- Season 8 -- The Auditions begin 05/26/11

I was a little terrified of how Gaga's would turn out, but she ended up being one of the better guest judges they've had. Rob Marshall was worthless, though.

I'm 50/50 on NappyTabs. They've done some great stuff (Alex and Twitch last year), but sometimes they just phone it in. I loved when NPH ripped Tyce last week, and same goes for Gaga ripping NappyTabs this week.

I actually gasped when Melanie took her flying leap. That was the single best moment this season. Melanie has it wrapped up.

Christina Applegate told them to... uh... "whack it harder."

Re: SYTYCD -- So You Think You Can Dance -- Season 8 -- The Auditions begin 05/26/11

I like Christina Applegate but this was another 'celebrity fan who has danced on stage in a previous performance' parading as a guest judge.

I'm glad she enjoys the show and has clearly watched previous seasons but WHO CARES?

She was still better than Lil C who manages to be annoying even when he rarely manages to comment without droning on for more a minute about something that doesnt even make sense. I have no idea why they keep bringing him back. Crunk is so 2004. Are there no other qualified black male choreographers?

I didn't get all the love for the last Sonya Tayeh/Florence + The Machine routine they closed the show with. It almost seemed like they were trying to let poor Caitlynn down easy knowing she is most likely going to be leaving next.

I thought the Spencer Liff routine before it with Melanie was AMAZING. She really bring a lot to her dance performances with the subtle bits of acting she does. And even while she is pretty plain in the looks department she knows how to work what she has and she looked sexy as hell doing that routine!

Re: SYTYCD -- So You Think You Can Dance -- Season 8 -- The Auditions begin 05/26/11

I'm hoping for either Melanie or Marco to win this season. Tadd knows he won't win, bit he's just frickin' amazing. Sasha's good, but gets on my nerves.

Melanie's solo last night was intense.

Caitlyn's good, but yeah, she'll be going home tonight. Ricky should have gone home a long time ago.

Aside from a few guest judges, I missed having Adam there this season. I hope he's there next week.

I don't get all the love for Melanie, and I personally can't stand Sasha, but it's been clear for weeks that those two are the judges' darlings, for whatever reason, so Caitlyn will be leaving tonight, leaving me with no horse in this race.

Maybe we'll get a shocker, and Marco will win the whole thing. That would be cool.

I liked both Latin dances and the broadway this week.

I am rooting for Melanie to win but think Sasha will win. I'd be shocked if either guy win.

I expect you are right, which is a real shame. For the first time since season one, I have no interest in knowing who wins the contest. I know Marco won't win, and I don't think either of the girls deserve it.

Oh well, there's always next year.

The highlight of the night was seeing Laren and Kent dance again.

Wow, bad choreography, bad dancing, bad guest judges tonight. Very disappointing finale.
