Would be great if this came to PS3. I use the Netflix feature quite often and this would be a fantastic addition.

When Netflix came to the 360, it was a full year before it was allowed on the PS3 and actually two before it didn't require a separate disc to be inserted. I'd suspect they worked out a similar deal with HBO -- probably a year of exclusivity.

Does anyone know the reason "In Treatment" is no longer available via HBO Go? And any chance there's a "trick" to get the iPad to project HBO Go programming onto the TV via the HDMI attachment?

How is the movie selection on HBO Go, does it complement the libraries of Amazon and Netflix? With the exception of 48 Hrs, I've only been using it for shows.

Took a quick look on the iPad. There's only about 250 movies. Seems to be mostly older stuff (from the 90's to early 00's). Looks like their newest movies are Five Year Engagement, Wrath Of The Titans, Bridesmaids, X-Men: First Class, Horrible Bosses, Red Riding Hood, Adjustment Bureau, etc. I noticed a lot of movies that weren't available for Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Re: HBO Go

It's basically whatever HBO is showing for the month, so it's a mix of releases. This also means that things rotate in and out on a regular basis (if you look at the movie page in Go, it'll tell you when it'll stop being available). The only things they keep around indefinitely are the tv shows, which they have all seasons of if they carry it at all (some stuff like the NFL ones aren't allowed to be streamed).

HBO announced it has about 114m subscribers around the globe. Does that make HBO Go the most popular streaming site on the planet by default?

Re: HBO Go

Do they crop all 2.35:1 movies to 1.85:1? I noticed that both X-Men: First Class and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes were cropped.

If simply having acces to streaming is what we would count, wouldn't ESPN have more?

I think more carriers support ESPN3 than support HBO Go so you're probably right.

Thanks BigDave and fujishig. I'll have to explore that more, but wish it was on the PS3. Also, wish that John From Cincinatti was on Go, wondering why the hell it isn't.

Because it's shit? ;)

Just got an HBO Go update that finally adds AirPlay support from devices running iOS 6 to the Apple TV.

Really? That's amazing. Guess we should expect the direct AppleTV app any minute now ;)

Quality is pretty good, had one playback error in the 10 minutes I watched. Of course now that directv has almost all the same stuff on demand, I won't use this nearly as much as I would've in the past.

It's supposed to be released by the end of the year, but I doubt that will help me much. There's an HBO Go app on Roku, but my provider, DirecTV, won't allow its customers to access it because DTV is pushing its own on-demand service. Which is fine, but the HBO Go app is so much easier to use.

Re: HBO Go

I know it was already announced. I just found the iOS update confusing because it's barely an improvement knowing what's coming. It just feels like the harbinger of the AppleTV's native version.

HBO Go presents its movies the same way they're aired on the channel, -almost all of the 2:35:1 movies are cropped. That's been my problem with HBO (and Cinemax) for all of these years and it still remains so.

Re: HBO Go

For whatever reason Carnivale wasn't on here before, I noticed it is now. I've never seen it so looking forward to seeing what all the hype was about.

Any other shows that were previously missing that might have been added?

Re: HBO Go

My cable company just got HBO Go a couple weeks ago. I also discovered my Samsung 63" plasma has HBO Go built in as an app. So I watched Game of Thrones entirely on the app at about 15 minutes after it started on air.

And yes, Carnivale did just magically appear recently.

I have to giggle a bit. I remember back in 2003 (?) when I first got my HDTV, I and a lot of other HDTV owners, would complain that HBO HD would not show movies in OAR - they were croped to be 4:3.

It shows how far we have come that we can now complain that they are cropping 2:35:1 movies.

In case anyone missed it in The Apple Thread, AppleTV has added an HBOGo app. DirecTV has announced they'll allow HBOGo on the ATV. It also works with Comcast Xfinity.

Still waiting for this to come to PS3. I wonder what's taking so long.
