Re: HBO Go
Definitely your internet connection. Content for me is usually HD but sometimes it drops for a minute or two.
Interestingly this app doesn't work on Roku for DirecTV subscribers. That's why I was so jazzed that it works on Xbox..was worried they'd block it there too since they did on Roku..which doesn't make any sense. |
Re: HBO Go
Just got this on Optimum cable in NJ and I can't believe how much content there is. Every season of True Blood & other HBO series, tons of movies, movie collections and a lot more.

Re: HBO Go
I am very happy that HBO has kept their entire series on HBO Go. This was what sold me on reordering the channel after canceling. We can thank Netflix for that actually. :)
If they start being lame and only offer certain shows/episodes, I will have to reconsider, but so far, so good. On a disappointing note, HBO has seemed to cut ties with the show Carnivale, which I was hoping to check out. Not available on HBO Go and not even mentioned on their website anymore. Had heard good things about the two seasons they had. |
Re: HBO Go
Nearly a year later after I created this thread and I still do not have access to HBO Go.
|
Re: HBO Go
Anyone know if this will be able to stream form the ps3 anytime soon? I want to be able to watch all those shows on my tv. I guess its time to consider a xbox 360 or Roku.
|
Re: HBO Go
I also want to know if this is coming to PS3 of Sony Bravia Internet capable TV's as an app.
|
Re: HBO Go
Would be great if this came to PS3. I use the Netflix feature quite often and this would be a fantastic addition.
|
Re: HBO Go
I was hoping it would be available via my Vizio apps but I still need to use my 360.
BTW I was searching the movies on GO and came across "La Casa Muda" which is the original "Silent House" Awesome flick check it out its subed in english. |

Re: HBO Go
Does anyone know the reason "In Treatment" is no longer available via HBO Go? And any chance there's a "trick" to get the iPad to project HBO Go programming onto the TV via the HDMI attachment?
|
Re: HBO Go
How is the movie selection on HBO Go, does it complement the libraries of Amazon and Netflix? With the exception of 48 Hrs, I've only been using it for shows.

Re: HBO Go
It's basically whatever HBO is showing for the month, so it's a mix of releases. This also means that things rotate in and out on a regular basis (if you look at the movie page in Go, it'll tell you when it'll stop being available). The only things they keep around indefinitely are the tv shows, which they have all seasons of if they carry it at all (some stuff like the NFL ones aren't allowed to be streamed).

Re: HBO Go
HBO announced it has about 114m subscribers around the globe. Does that make HBO Go the most popular streaming site on the planet by default?
|
Re: HBO Go
Do they crop all 2.35:1 movies to 1.85:1? I noticed that both X-Men: First Class and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes were cropped.

Re: HBO Go
Thanks BigDave and fujishig. I'll have to explore that more, but wish it was on the PS3. Also, wish that John From Cincinatti was on Go, wondering why the hell it isn't.

Re: HBO Go
Just got an HBO Go update that finally adds AirPlay support from devices running iOS 6 to the Apple TV.
|
Re: HBO Go
Really? That's amazing. Guess we should expect the direct AppleTV app any minute now ;)

Re: HBO Go
I know it was already announced. I just found the iOS update confusing because it's barely an improvement knowing what's coming. It just feels like the harbinger of the AppleTV's native version.

Re: HBO Go
For whatever reason Carnivale wasn't on here before, I noticed it is now. I've never seen it so looking forward to seeing what all the hype was about.
Any other shows that were previously missing that might have been added? |
Re: HBO Go
My cable company just got HBO Go a couple weeks ago. I also discovered my Samsung 63" plasma has HBO Go built in as an app. So I watched Game of Thrones entirely on the app at about 15 minutes after it started on air.
And yes, Carnivale did just magically appear recently. |

It shows how far we have come that we can now complain that they are cropping 2:35:1 movies. |
Re: HBO Go
In case anyone missed it in The Apple Thread, AppleTV has added an HBOGo app. DirecTV has announced they'll allow HBOGo on the ATV. It also works with Comcast Xfinity.

Re: HBO Go
Still waiting for this to come to PS3. I wonder what's taking so long.
|
Re: HBO Go
I haven't check lately but I have been waiting for HBOGo to be added to the apps on my Vizio. I hate have to turn on my xbox to watch it on my TV.
|
Re: HBO Go
Since someone brought it up, what possible reason could HBO have to crop movies now here in 2013, when almost everyone watching is watching on a widescreen TV and doesn't seem like anyone hates 'the black bars' anymore? Even if they weren't cropped I probably wouldn't watch movies on HBO since it's only 720p anyway.

I will occasionally watch one..I just don't need to since I can get anything in 1080p. If premium channel movies were 1080p(I know this isn't the fault of any particular channel) that would be another viable option right there with Netflix etc. They probably are 1080p on HBO Go but I only have access to the app via 720p Xbox anyway. I use it to watch their tv shows though! |

The XBox is perfectly capable of 1080/24f output but if your TV only supports 720p then that's the fault of the TV not the provider. |
Re: HBO Go
We just got HBO last weekend for when 'True Blood' started up after getting a decent deal on it for 6 months. $15 a month forHBO, TMC, Showtie & Cinemax.
It's probably been a good 5 or 6 years since we last had HBO, so the HBO GO is pretty awesome. Now I have all these shows that I've never seen except 'True Blood' and 'Boardwalk Empire' which I got via alternative methods. I'm about to have a TV overload!! |

For those with a Roku and a Directv subscription, you can now use HBO Go. Mainly this will save yourself DVR space if you're backed up on other shows. |
