Thinking about it... it would have been much better if they didn't show him in the commercials. It would have been a great surprise for anyone that doesn't read spoilers.

Also, Ryan was unexpectedly the best part of the episode. Every time he opened his mouth it was gold.
Well, I don't really need to make a post now. You just said everything I was going to say.

I know it wouldn't make sense, but I'd love to see Jo take the position. I would love for her to be a regular.

I noticed this as well, and I don't ever notice this kinda thing.

Just basing it on who they interviewed from the outside and everyone in the office. He's not crazy and while, say, the interview stuff got away from him..If he wanted to he could be an adequate boss even if he would be a jerk. Not saying it's best for the TV show, just if this was somehow a real-life place, based on who would be available. Definitely would be better outside candidates than he in real life.

Re: The Office -- 1 Hour Season Finale -- "Search Committee" -- 5/19/11

I think it was smart for them to end this on a cliffhanger (personally I wasn't happy about it), but I think they are going to pour over all the comments from across all the office related websites and see what kinds of comments the potential replacements are getting. So far, it seems like Spader is getting the most love. For me, I think Ricky Gervais would be awesome but that's just me.

Out of all of them Spader is the most likely pick in my eyes, Carrey(I highly doubt it), Romano(has his own show), Catherine Tate (not really sure about her, but doesn't seem like they'd pick her), Darryl (doubt it), Dwight (actually is my sleeper), and Andy (no way).

Oh and I'm so glad they 86'd Gabe. He's just horrible.

Count me in as another vote for Spader. He was, and would be, pure gold.

Sorry, but I liked Gabe and found him hilarious. Poor guy, heart broken and now sent packing...

Is Gabe really gone from the show? Seems like he said he'd still be the liason between Sabre and Dunder-Mifflin. Maybe he'll just be in fewer episodes? Also why is the woman that Deangelo hired as his assistant still around? Assisting Creed, I guess. Michael never had an assistant though.

I don't know if Spader's schtick could work for an entire season though.

I think Ramano should get it.

He'll probably make random appearances when things get out of hand at the office but I don't think he'll have any more story lines next season.

Apparently Ricky Gervais didn't care for the finale either...

Re: The Office -- 1 Hour Season Finale -- "Search Committee" -- 5/19/11

I don't get all the hate for Gabe from some people. He's weird, but he was a great character for the others to play off of.

I think Spader would be great, but I'd put my money on Catherine Tate given they mentioned her being friends with Jo twice or Andy since Jo specifically noted his resume.

I think the bigger question I have is when the new season is going to pick up. Are they still going to be looking for a new boss, will it be the boss's first day, or will they have had the boss for a while? Will be interesting to see how they handle that aspect of it.

While he makes some decent points, I don't think this episode was a case of "awkwardly wedging" a guest star in the show. Sure, they didn't need to use big names, but it's not as though they just had random celebrities stopping by the office for cameos; they were conducting interviews, which is a perfectly natural way to bring in guest stars.

And while I laughed at Gervais's cameo, it was more me laughing at Jim & Co.'s reaction because they, like me, had no idea what he was talking about or what was happening. As far as Gervais was concerned, you could tell he phoned it in; arguably, he was the least funny of the guest stars.

I think it'll be Tate but Spader would make me a regular viewer. He's been a great boss twice in the past (Secretary, Boston Legal) so it could work here, or completely derail the show.

How the hell would the job ever go to that Tate chick after such a horrible interview?
She was seriously unfunny and I can't see myself watching if she's in every episode.

You've never seen an unqualified person get the job in real life because they were friends with the boss?

I absolutely will. I'm not claiming to not still care for the show. All I was basically saying was that the way the storyline regarding the new manager is going hasn't really piqued my curiosity.

Spader was the shit, he looked like shit, but I was as captivated by him as everyone else in that interview. Its a damn shame if he doesnt get the gig. That british chick annoyed the hell out of me, I didnt even know what the fuck she was saying. The finale wasnt that great, but Spader made it gold.... I shoulda watched that Boston Legal show when it was on.

Yea. I was hoping that he was somehow the Scranton Strangler.

Spader was pure awesome. I sat there mesmerized like Jim, Gabe and Toby.

I enjoyed the Carey cameo, as I knew nothing about it until he was on screen.

^ Agree. Spader was incredible, Tate was just annoying and awful. If she becomes the new boss, I'll have a hard time continuing to watch the show. The finale was kind of hit and miss for me, but overall I liked it and Creed and Ryan were great.

I'll take Spader if he does something better with his hair. It was really bugging me here for some reason.

I miss him after Boston Legal and his Acura commercials aren't enough for me.

Tate could have been good if they gave her a better character.

Creed's intro was great

James Spader was awesome. I'll throw in a vote for him as the boss.
