Mortal Kombat: Legacy -- "Episode 6: Raiden" -- 5/17/11

Synopsis:

Spoiler:
The following episode represents director Kevin Tancharoen's "different take on the Mortal Kombat universe," combining the perfect amount of gritty realism mixed with a hint of mysticism... When Lord Raiden, God of Thunder and protector of Earth, finds himself in an earthly mental institution in the year 2011, his 'delusions' are treated with some rather primitive forms of therapy (involving an ECT machine and an ice pick). Nonetheless, Blue, his beautiful, fragile yet insane fellow inmate, is Raiden's only hope of escaping the mental hospital and making his way to the Mortal Kombat tournament to defend Earthrealm from Shao Khan.

This was definitely more like it.

And Tracy Spiridakos is cute. I hope we see her again in some form. Was Blue ever a character in the games?

Agree now that was a pretty good episode. Much better than the 2-part Kitana and Mileena mess.

Ryan Robbins was great as Raiden. I thought the whole psychiatric hospital setup was a great way to introduce the character.

at Raiden taking his signature hat off the Chinese guy.

Hopefully we are getting closer to the tournament.

I showed the video to my mom and when Raiden materialized there, she said "oh so now he's in Big Trouble In Little China."

Wait, are they actually going to do the tournament? I thought this series was all of the backstory leading up to the original game (the tournament). I always assumed the end of the series would be as the tournament is about to begin.

Some episodes are before the first tournament. Others are after the first and before the second. None of the episodes will be in the actual tournament.

I think these episodes are just to test the waters as to what tone and style appeals most to fans. Then that'll determine how an actual feature will be.

now that's what I'm talking about. Real-world style plot lines. Yes, it had a lot of mythical stuff in it, but the basic setting was real world - unlike the Kitana episodes.

excellent!
