Dead on NBC, but the Producers are trying to keep this alive for a season 2. They said some cable networks are interested. Wait and see I guess, but realistically it's doubtful.

The show is way better than it used.to be. Hope there is at least a little resolution.

Just one episode to wrap up a story about people coming from another entire galaxy. Thanks, NBC.

Re: The Event -- "The Beginning of the End" -- 5/16/11

what about it being picked up by another network

gmanca 05-17-11 12:34 AM

Re: The Event -- "The Beginning of the End" -- 5/16/11

I really hope it gets picked up, "The Event" seems to be much more than just the aliens coming or even the humans fighting them, more like another alien race or astronomical event.

Re: The Event -- "The Beginning of the End" -- 5/16/11

It's would be very rare for networks to start picking up others rejects. The people of V are trying to get the same thing done.
I don't see it happening.

Re: The Event -- "The Beginning of the End" -- 5/16/11

Yeah, I'm not overtly optimistic but it would be nice to see. I also watched V but they really had no idea what they wanted from that show and as much as I enjoyed it, I am ok with it being canceled.

It would seem they have about 42 minutes to...

...start and/or stop the destruction of the human race by the flu virus, in three separate locations.
...open and/or close the portal and start and/or stop bringing the rest of the aliens here.
...provide some answers, or at least shed some more light, on the aliens being here first and "taking back" what is theirs.
...get Taylor Cole into at least one more revealing outfit.
...return Martinez to power.
...give Jarvis and/or the aliens their comeuppance.
...save Leila, or not.
...explain what "The Event" actually is, since Simon makes specific reference to it in the preview.

Am I missing anything?

Blame NBC for causing the low ratings by taking the show off for 3 months and expecting people to remember the show when it came back.

Don't blame NBC for the writers pulling the "We won't give real definitive endings so we'll make them renew us!" malarkey they pull.

They saw the ratings, they should have realized early they'd have to tie everything up cause it wasn't getting renewed.

They have to throw another random twist in for no reason.

We were here first  What's next? Jarvis saying "Eli, I am your father?"

Of all the shows cancelled, I think this is the one I'd like to see return, if they could keep it going like the last half of this season as opposed to say the first 6-9 episodes.

Lots of stuff to wrap up as mentioned above. I'd be surprised if they actually did wrap it up.

Re: The Event -- "The Beginning of the End" -- 5/16/11

I don't think they deserve to have it renewed to get another season. They did a horrible job to start off, lost all momentum and the insane push NBC gave. Then, even when the show got good, they continue doing stupid things. The timer in the mall, the "oh no, Lee and Sterling died" that was painfully obvious it was a fake and the first lady was in on it. The stuff with the we were here first. Most importantly, they appear to wrap up jack shit despite knowing the ratings were in the tank and it wouldn't be renewed. The writers didn't deserve a second chance IMO.

Did they ever explain the old children (and whatever happened to Leila's sister?)

pic of the first one? I don't recall this and I need to.

At this point, I don't even care about whether or not they stop the virus or stop the portal. If you gave me the choice between watching video of Bin Laden getting shot in the face, or Sophia getting shot in the face, I'd actually have to think about it.

I forget the exact episode, but there was a scene where they were outside by the car changing and she takes her top off and the shot lingers on her back for a sec.

Other than that I cant really think of any others.

I remembered today that I neglected to mention this one. Leila's sister was left with the girl from the original 90210, and that was the last we've seen of both of them. There was never much, if any, explanation about the experiments on the old children, or how Dempsey was able to briefly "youngify" himself in the mirror.

gmanca 05-19-11 09:34 PM

Re: The Event -- "The Beginning of the End" -- 5/16/11

Well, one thing is that I would think that's a far-along storyline as he said he wanted that girl at the playground ready for when he came back from Paris. I imagine the story would continue with a notion in that satchel Holbrook gave Ritter.

I mean, I get the idea that there's no finality of threads brought up in the show but it was never conceived as a mini-series; some things should be allowed to breathe beyond a season.

There was also the shots of Cole in the multiple bikinis in the first few episodes.

I think we can infer that he was "stealing" their youth somehow and he was very, very (as in hundreds of years) old, but it would have been nice to get an actual explanation instead of Dempey's nonsensical suicide.
