Hah. I thought the braniac guy was Larry David, before I got a good look at him (when he first talked). But I guess it was just Colbert in Larry David makeup.

Anyone notice that Helms slipped up a handful of times? He was either nervous or didn't rehearse enough or couldn't read the cards or something.
Okay, this one was defiantely unintelligible to me. Did anyone else notice this? It's like something happened and they just kept rolling. Usually the performer can make it funny somehow when they slip up. But this is kind of cringeworthy.

I have always liked it simply because Sudekis' dancing cracks me up no matter how many times I see it. Having said that, I would assume the appearance of the real Lindsey Buckingham would signal the sketch is being retired?

^ Possibly, but they could always put something else in there to keep the sketch funny and fresh as well.
I don't get why Wiig has to retire her characters. Penelope was the funniest one she had.
BTW, nice to see Buckingham make the appearance. I hope they do invite him back to be an actual musical guest after all that.

^Ditto. I think that is 90% of what I enjoy about WUWT. My daughters and I both laugh every time he comes out. It's one of the better cross-generational moments of SNL, though not exactly approaching the all-time record jointly held by the Merryville Brothers amusement park and (not coincidentally) Jim Carrey's Roxbury Guys sketches.

Are you talking about when he says "My dad?" I think he missed his cue for the camera switch, which threw the timing off and kind of killed the joke. He was just saying generic stuff that identifies Republicans.

Ed Helms did seem underused, though I'm not sure why because he did fine with the characters they gave him. Did he get even a single juicy part in the whole show?

^ Well, she insists she's not. When people on this show leave, usually it's at the end of the season. I think she's stupid to retire her funniest character though.
What Up With That's repetition and endlessness IS the joke.

Am I the only one who hates the What Up With That sketch? It just goes on and on and on and on. And Helms' cameo was wasted.

There isn't a thread for next week but Timberlake, Samberg, Sarandon and Clarkson were seen filming another "motherlover" video. Cannot wait.
