Synopsis:

Spoiler:
After years of pursuit and a countless number of murders, Langston comes face-to-face with serial killer Nate Haskell inside the house where his killing spree began, on the 11th season finale of CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, Thursday, May 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Bill Irwin ("Rachel Getting Married") returns as serial killer Nate Haskell, and Tracee Ellen Ross ("Girlfriends") returns as Langston's ex-wife, Gloria.

Episode 22 of 22

to bringing Nate Haskell back. I haven't done CSI threads all year, but this is the finale and they are bringing back a key story arc from earlier this season.

CSI will be getting a new series regular next season

http://www.tvline.com/2011/04/csi-sc...ed-to-regular/

Elizabeth Harnois is joining the show for season 12.

I also read that most of the cast is unsigned for next season including Laurence Fishburne and Marg Helgenberger.

What's the key story arc, or are you referring to Haskell?

I thought Marg wasn't coming back next year?

Yeah I meant Haskell.

I saw a story saying that Marg might come back for a few episodes next season. She started this season saying she was done.

Awesome episode, but it was kinda weird that Haskall
Spoiler:
met his end so early in the episode.

I mean it mimics the way the show always plays but I wasn't expecting that at all.

So over the past few seasons, Nate Haskell has looked very familiar. I finally got around to looking him up last night, and my mind was blown.

Nate Haskell is Mr. Noodle!!!

I agree - it was a let down when they started the show showing him already dead.. would have been cool if they played the episode in reverse - and you didn't know what happened to everyone until the last 15 minutes.

better story arc than the other CSI serial killer stories in the past.

You act like we haven't seen Haskell in a while and that it is a surprise that he is in the finale. He was in five episodes this year, including last weeks cliffhanger.

I'm glad Haskell was dead at the start of the episode. I was getting tired of his storyline, and him being dead let the CSIs do actual.. well.. CSI work. This felt more like a traditional CSI episode.

right, it had become more of a detective show as opposed to focusing on the evidence.

Re: CSI: -- Season Finale -- "In a Dark, Dark House" -- 5/12/11

I had a really hard time watching this show this year, think I saw half the episodes and most of them were not too good. I think it's time to pull the plug, they are out of good ideas of ways for people to die, they have done the "my death is related to your death" stories to death, and the characters are fairly boring (I understand they are usually one dimensional on procedural shows, but they seem to be relying more on the characters the last few years than before).

It was a great show for a long time, but I'm done with it.

Well when it's one killer over the span of 5 episodes, there is only so much evidence to cover. Plus he was good at covering his tracks and only leaving evidence he wanted Ray to find.

I really enjoyed this season outside of a couple clunkers.

Laurence Fishburne Leaves 'CSI':
http://www.deadline.com/2011/06/laur...ne-leaves-csi/

After two-and-a-half seasons, Laurence Fishburne is leaving CSI. The Oscar-nominated actor's deal on the show was up and he opted not to renew it. He is expected to return to features full-time. It was a major coup for CBS to land Fishburne as a successor to original star William Petersen who left the series in December 2008. But when he last renewed his contract for CSI last May, Fishburne only did it for one season. After ten-and-a-half seasons as CBS' Thursday 9 PM anchor, CSI is moving to Wednesday 10 PM this fall. I hear CBS and the veteran crime drama's producers were not surprised by Fishburne's decision. "Nobody expected him to be on the show for 7 years, it's Laurence Fishburne," one insider said.

Well since they wrapped up Nate's plot, now's a good time to go. I wonder if Gris will return for a few next year.

As some have suggested, I think it's time to wrap up the series and if they do that, I'm sure William Peterson would be willing to return for probably half the season or something (not sure what his obligations are with his stage plays and whatnot).

I think about the only way bringing him back would work would be a short term run to "reset" the show and essentially reboot it or end it. It seems that the majority of the chararacters have run their course and the stories have gotten weaker over time.

As much as I like the show, I say just end it. Announce it will be the final season and go out with a bang. Sure, the ratings for it aren't bad (other than American Idol and NCIS, not much else gets above 20m viewers a week anymore) but it'd be sad to see it dip any lower which it will. Maybe CBS wants to see how it does on Wednesdays before making a decision.

Re: CSI: -- Season Finale -- "In a Dark, Dark House" -- 5/12/11

I thought I read a blurb in EW recently where Fishburne said he was optimistic about coming back for another season. Can't say I'll really miss him from this show as I never really thought much of his character. Will be interesting to see how the creative team handles this...

Re: CSI: -- Season Finale -- "In a Dark, Dark House" -- 5/12/11

They could just take the Law & Order route (at least Criminal Intent) where characters just leave for no reason, story-wise, whatsoever... I doubt fans will really care. I'm wondering who they're going to replace him with. I know at one time John Malkovich's name came up which would be an interesting choice and could work in the short term.

But yeah, I also remember reading that about Fishburne so I was somewhat surprised by the news.

Re: CSI: -- Season Finale -- "In a Dark, Dark House" -- 5/12/11

Also, wasn't Marg Helgenberger's contract up/not renewed after this last season too?

As much as I would hate to see the show end, I would rather they go all out for one last season, instead of letting it slowly die a painful death.

I do seem to recall that wasn't Kurt Russell's name also mentioned around the time that Laurence Fishburne signed up?

Snake as a CSI? Hmm....

I think the show is doing fine. Since they focus on the cases and not personal lives, I could watch it for quite a while longer.

I never got invested with Fishburne as a CSI. I'm not sure what it was, but I think they need some new leadership to come in and run things. I like Marg as well, but I would not mind if she had a lesser role as well. There needs to be more competition like they used to have with Nick and Warrick IMHO.

Yeah, I believe his name was in there too. He'd certainly be an interesting inclusion.
