South Park - "Funnybot" - 5/04/11

http://www.southparkstudios.com/news...t-announcement

NEW YORK, May 2, 2011 - Jimmy hosts the Special Ed Departments First Annual Comedy Awards at South Park Elementary in an all-new episode of "South Park" titled, "Funnybot, premiering on Wednesday, May 4 at 10:00 p.m. on Comedy Central.

At the schools first annual Comedy Awards, Jimmy announces that the Germans are the least funny people in the world. Germany is highly insulted. They vow that retaliation toward the kids at South Park.

Wonder how Comedy Central feels about them making fun of the Comedy Awards. And yes, Germans are horribly unfunny.

Comedy Central probably just looks at the South Park ratings and says "Okay, whatever they want."

I didn't see a Tony Awards thread, but congrats to Matt & Trey:

“The Book of Mormon,” which features a book from “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and music from Robert Lopez, led the pack with 14 nominations, including nods for Best Musical, Direction, and Best Leading Actor, as well as Featured Actor and Actress.

Parker and Stone’s subversive and widely-praised musical -- which follows two Mormon missionaries in Africa as they meet the locals and sing rollicking show-stoppers about AIDS, female circumcision, scrotal maggots and guerilla warfare -- has been a box office smash and a rousing tourist attraction, despite its lack of marquee name actors."

It's wild that these guys have remained as obscene and irreverent as ever, but receive Emmy, Oscar and Tony nominations.

Unless Muhammad is involved. Little sensitive on that topic.

Now they just need a Grammy nod and they're well on their way to EGOT.

As long as they don't piss off any Muslims.

I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped airing the Bin Laden episode for fear of retaliation.

I'm wondering if they'll throw in an OBL reference tonight, what with the quick turnaround on the show.

I was expecting the whole episode to be about him.

Actually, so was I since they didn't do a writers' retreat for this batch of episodes (too busy with the Broadway show) and are writing and producing each episode on the fly. Maybe they still will and the episode will take a sharp turn from the plot posted above.

Bin Laden and Saddam just have to meet up in Hell at some point. Maybe form a love triangle with Satan.

But didn't South Park already kill Bin Laden? I believe it was at the end of the Jersey episode.

They have before. I remember the Quintuplets episode from like a decade ago getting changed within hours. Most of the stuff from the previews was gone. Wish they actually released that episode as-is.

FYI - Not sure if it was ever posted, but the shows been renewed through the 17th Season. So we have at least another 3 seasons (including this one).

They also killed him in Osama bin Laden Has Farty Pants, so he obviously has Kenny powers.

And CC is rerunning both bin Laden episodes.

Token and Tyler Perry were the only funny parts.

I don't know...some of the random things Funnybot would say cracked me up. Certainly wasn't as great as last weeks episode though. But South Park has a habit of showing one of their strongest episodes at the beginning of the season.

My feeling as well. I didn't care for the Dalek-Nomad at all.

I loved the "One and a Half Men" poster in the CBS offices. Looked like an OBL sketch in the dressing room too.

I think they showed Conan O'Brien in the gym at one point (when Leno was freaking out) and he was clean-shaven. That just happened Monday. Also, South Park Louis C.K. looks just like Louis C.K.

I laughed out loud when Token first laughed at Tyler Perry. They went back to the joke three too many times. Obama saying he was going to watch it with his family should have been the only callback to it.
