Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Beautiful, athletic, and trained as highly skilled assassins, Kitana and Mileena have grown up thinking that they are sisters. Shao Kahn, Emperor of the Outworld, has tricked Shang Tsung into becoming his servant for Mortal Kombat by making him clone Mileena as a Tarkatan clone of Kitana, out of Shao Kahn's fear that Kitana wouldn't love him enough if she ever found out the truth about her Mother and Father.

Re: Mortal Kombat: Legacy -- "Episode 4: Kitana & Mileena" -- 5/03/11

Just finished this and I actually liked this better than Johnny Cage last week.

I liked that it combined Anime (although kind of cheap looking) and a very mythological story to tell the origin of Kitana and Mileena.

at Baraka. It looked like a guy wearing a Pig mask.

BTW, the Kitana and Mileena story will continue in episode 5 next week.

Thank goodness this was TV-MA. Noticed that it was quite violent.

It's weird that they went with the cloning and the supernatural stuff. I'd been enjoying the way the series was grounded in reality (sort of) up until this point, but this was basically just a stylized retelling of the exact origin story from the game, wasn't it?

Is this one censored until Friday like the Cage one?

No it's TV-MA. This is the only version. Last week was an anomaly.

So far we're introduced to:

Jax, Sonya Blade, Stryker, Kano, Cyrax, Johnny Cage, Shang Tsung, Shao Khan, Sindel, Kitana, Mileena, Baraka... is that right?

Do you know how many episodes there are supposed to be? I like these introductions, but seems like at the pace it's going, I'm not sure where they are headed. Obviously to the tournament, or maybe not?

I believe it's either 9 or 10 episodes.

Okay thanks for the game plug Ed Boon.

All these episodes look dirt cheap. Baraka was also hilarious looking. In a way this cheesy series kind of kills any chance of a more legit big screen version. Granted, there will always be a cheese factor with MK, but it has more potential than what this series has done.

I miss the Se7enesque grittiness of that original short.

Someone posted an interview with the director in the first thread. Apparently, some episodes are before the first tournament and others are after it. I don't think anything takes place during the tournament itself. Oh and Liu Kang and Kung Lao are season 2 characters.

Thank Ed Boon for that being ditched altogether. A happy medium should've been found.

This episode was poor. It was rather boring and the animated sequences were piss poor. And Baraka looked like an Orc reject.

I don't get all the hate on this episode - it was a good story and nice use of anime (if they would have tried to do live action - that would have came off cheesy)

I like these back stories - hope they tie everything together for 2 or so episodes.

Except that it still looked cheesy with the animated sequences.

I don't either. The anime was kind of cheap-looking, but otherwise I thought it looked great for a web series. I've enjoyed all the stories so far.
