Hmm...
Still looks like Bennett. |
Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
This show is so good. I see AMC has several things on their site to help guess the killer, but I'm going to just watch the shows to try and figure it out. This reminds me of trying to figure out who killed Laura Palmer. Every show has to be watched with a keen eye to see what's being presented.

I kinda wish I didn't have to wait a week between each episode...

Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
Since he clearly can't be the killer at this point, it looks like Bennett might be the red herring suspect that gets arrested.

Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
Damn, Bennett married Chrissy Seaver:lol:

Love this show. It's absolutely hypnotic.

Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
Good episode, but I think it focused a little too much on Darren's campaign than the murder investigation. I'm not sure I get what Darren and Jaime are trying to do other than Jaime being his mole.
Not surprised to see Stan finally break down and have a moment to mourn. Being the man of the house, I know he was trying to stay strong for Mitch and his 2 sons. Sarah's partner Holder is looking more sleazier as the weeks go by. What was up with him counting all that cash and then dropping it off at some mystery house? As far as Bennett goes, there still isn't really any concrete evidence against him. Okay, so he has some cleaner in his house from working on it. That's just a fluke coincidence IMO. Also, he dated and married a slightly younger woman. So what? He's definitely a Red Herring. |

I also figured that it tied in with the celibacy comment. |

Ex/separated wife? It also looked like there were children running in the house. So I'm thinking she left him because she didn't like the "narc" life or wanted its influence with their children.

Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
I think Bennett is a red herring because there are still too many episodes left for them to be identifying the killer. I was a bit surprised that they didn't rule him out in this episode; I was expecting them to move on to another red herring.
I still don't like Holder. So far, I don't see anything that shows me he deserved a promotion to homicide. |
Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
Hmm, new suspect, Darren Richmond, mastermind...

Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
This show seems to be following a formula. Show someone who looks very suspicious under circumstances that could be damning, then provide an explanation that gets them off the hook. It's almost like a fake-out plot-twist every episode. Eventually when they get to the last episode, they'll find something on someone that will actually stick. If they continue with this formula, it'll be like basketball where you'll only need to watch the last 2 minutes of the game.
Also, it seems like every character is hiding something (related to the murder or not). |

From an interview with Exec Producer Veena Sud in Entertainment Weekly a few weeks ago:
What can you tease about the rest of the season going forward? One thing we’ll be seeing is that every single one of our characters has our secrets. Under the microscope of a murder investigation, no one’s secret remains safe. That includes the family, Sarah Linden, Darren Richmond, and that includes the victim. One of the big questions we’re gonna start thinking about as the series progresses is: How well do you ever really know anybody? You think you know your wife. You think you know your best friend. You think you know your child. But do you really? |
Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
I am wondering why Sarah's fiance keeps hinting at about this happening again with Sarah's obsession with the murder.

So are the parent's broken up by their daughter's death? It's hard to tell...
Seriously though, besides being redundant as hell, every scene with the family slows the show to a fucking crawl, and it's not exactly fast-paced to begin with. |

Mitch has been a wreck. She's spent alot of time sleeping and locked up in her room. |

Re: The Killing -- "Super 8" -- 4/24/11
I said it yesterday, my thoughts about it being Sarah's fiancee, in last weeks episode thread, but I had not watched this episode yet. Now I have, and I'm more convinced they are going to go with him as the killer, and that's just so stupid and poor, cheap writing... From this episode, the clue seemed to be when she was watching the movie. It seemed awfully odd, him standing there, watching her watch the movie through the door's window. The expression on his face toward the end? Odder. Then I think he made some comment about her putting the movie on her wall like last time, which, how would he know that it was a movie Rosie made? I think he was the one that filmed the scenes with Rosie.
I hope to goodness I am wrong. I just think it is awful, awful, awful writing to have it be the detectives fiancee no matter what they reveal. Like I said the night the pilot aired, the teacher makes sense. He should be the killer, IMO. And it would have worked perfectly if they'd revealed all this crap, the wife being a student, everything, the second to last episode. They didn't, so clearly it won't be him. It's way too early to reveal this much this early, they have to get him off next week or else they'll just drop it and focus on someone else until the end, when all this gets picked back up, which might be just as bad writing wise as having it be the fiancée. Right now, I want to love this show, but I'm afraid its going to turn out to be a poorly written mess. It's following the formula someone mentioned above, reveal massive clues about someone, red herring, point the finger, then some magic explanation comes up and move on to suspects 2-2,000. That's just not good writing for this type of a show. Harper's Island had it's faults, plenty of them, but it did it right in that regard. All the clues were there from the start, and they didn't do the "new suspect every week" crap this show seems like it wants to do. |

Really? Do you have ADD or something? J/K, but honestly, if you want fast-paced, watch a serial action show. This story would typically be told as a 2-hour movie, but is told in 10 hours so that you get to know the characters inside and out. I think every scene has given the characters depth in a way that few shows can really pull off. I'm impressed as hell and I hope the typical on-demand audience can appreciate it. Sounds like it might not be your cup of tea, but it is mine.
