Hmmm, I'm still going to watch this, but I'm not sure we really needed a Sam Axe prequel, although I love the character.

Should be fun. Read there's a bunch of action and tons of explosions.

Wow, surprised someone actually voted on the Poll passing on this. Bruce Campbell alone should make it fun.

FWIW, the TiVo did not automatically pick this up. I thought it might since Burn Notice is in the title, but alas, you'll have to set this up separately.

yeah. oddly, when i searched for it on the DirecTV HDDVR, it showed up, but I couldn't select it (Friday). I had to go into the guide for tonight and manually add it. Not sure if that was a glitch or what for me.

I'm going to watch it, but the trailer I saw a few weeks ago made it basically like a Burn Notice flashback episode. The production quality looked very "Made for TV" and not even in a basic cable mini-series kind of way.

Loved the Michael cameo. Loved the nod to the evil dead/army of darkness flicks. Outside of that, I thought it was ok. A bit long and there wasn't anything spectacular but it was good to finally get the story behind Sam.

Just finished it. It was just okay.
I liked the attempt to give Burn Notice fans some of Sam's back story, but the plot wasn't really that compelling. Plus, I was starting to get really bored in hour 2. The nonlinear storytelling with Sam telling everything after it already happened IMO also hurt the plot.
Loved the Michael cameo also and how the Chuck Finley alias came about. There was some decent action sequences, but without a really compelling plot, they didn't really do much for me. Sam is a much more compelling character as Michael's sidekick.
The ending was kind of cool seeing Sam arrive in Miami with his trademark Hawaiian shirt on. If your a Burn Notice fan, I don't think this is mandatory viewing. I have no interest in re-visiting this movie again.

I enjoyed it but the framing device was weak, the title made no sense, and Jeffrey Donovan's direction felt inconsistent. Although I still enjoyed it (Bruce made it watchable), I was hoping it would have been a story of Sam's darker days (like the story of Sam that Jessie once used to gain the loyalty of one of their marks in the show).
Also, the tone of this movie felt more at home in the universe of The Good Guys than Burn Notice.

I watched 2/3 of this last night and well, I've already seen this. It was was with a better lead and called 24: Resistance. It started out fun enough with the Michael cameo, but it quickly grew tedious. I'm not even sure I'll finish it.
Sam is clearly better as a sidekick, however I do applaud them for trying.

And yeah I don't get the whole "The Fall of Sam Axe" thing. Sam got an honorable discharge after that mission, a bunch of perks from the military and also got to move to Miami.

Overnight ratings came out. 3.6M viewers and 1.1 in the demos. Pretty good. But, I really don't want anymore Sam Axe movies. A Michael Weston prequel, I wouldn't mind though.

3.6 million isn't all that good, though. doesn't burn notice get like 7 million viewers an episode?

Not much of a flick. Bruce made the film watchable, but the story was so "been there-done that" that I doubt I will ever revisit.
A Michael/Fiona story with a bearded Michael would be very interesting.

An even better story would have been when Michael and Sam first met.
The film should've been played straight and the humour simply coming from Sam's sarcastic quips.
