Directv normally changes $16 a month, but I asked about a discount and they are taking $5 off per month for 3 months. I initially wasn't planning on keeping it after the 3 months, but I love the original programs and them also including the HBO Go website where I can stream the movies and all their HBO series was an extra bonus, so I think I'm keeping it.

Oh, forgot to mention in my earlier post. I'm a regular HBO subscriber. It's a premium channel worth keeping for its series.

Of course, the best way to negate spoilers is to just go ahead and read the book ASAP.

Haven't read book two. Anyone know if the show spills over into Clash of Kings?

FYI, the 15 minute countdown/pre-show starts at 8:45pm ET. Your Game of Thrones season pass won't pick it up, you will have to record it separately.

"Worried" might be overstating it, but I don't want to see them. I only read this forum and one other (HTF), both of which have rules against spoilers, so I'm hopeful. The Walking Dead thread did pretty good. People identified when they were going to spoil something, and often even put what the spoiler was about before the spoiler tag (so you could decide if the subject in question is a spoiler you'd be interested in reading).

Well the 15 minute preshow was indeed mostly promos for HBO's series and new series.
Bad news, according to the promos, Boardwalk Empire returns in the Fall.
Also, we finally got to see some footage from David Milch's new show "Luck" that stars Dustin Hoffman. No airdate yet. I heard it's either Fall or early 2012.
It looks like Tim Van Patten is directing episodes 1 and 2 of GOT. Seems like he's HBO's go-to director for their shows and miniseries.

Pretty damn good. Peter Dinklage walked away with every scene he had, he completely rocked!
Looks like I called the ending point for the first ep. accurately, except:
The only problem I see this show having is the same that happened with Rome and Deadwood; it costs way too much to make for the viewership it draws. This looks like it cost a crapload to make, and we're only one episode into it. I hope it gets decent numbers, but fantasy is a hard sell, even after Lord of the Rings.

I really enjoyed that. I can see why some people won't like it (some of the comments on twitter aren't too kind, calling it slow and boring).
I would assume that the pace picks up once we get to know everyone.

Pretty good. The look is great, and I loved the title sequence. The only thing that felt/looked a little off was the Bran climbings scenes and the dry humping at the wedding.

As for the cost, it's not nearly as expensive as Rome from what I remember reading, also it's getting more money sold overseas than any show they've had by far..sounds like that will help keep it going as long as it gets pretty good ratings.
I liked the pilot..the ending is where things start to get interesting in the books so I expect this to be the worst episode. I know those who were sent the first six episodes for review say the 5th and 6th were the best of the first six..and the last half of the book is better than the first half.

FWIW, I remember people saying the same about True Blood when it started. Of course while it also is technically a fantasy, it's grounded in modern times and takes place in the "real world" so to say. Stuff that takes place in a complete fantasy world proves a bit more difficult to hook non-geeks.
