No love for Kevin's hilarious talking head? That got the biggest laugh of the night for me, I think.

Although I laughed out loud at the nut particles bit, I really thought that's where Ferrell would start overacting and doing his usual routine. Glad to see him not go over the top yet.

Is this Steve Carrell's last episode? If so, maybe I can start watching this show again. I just hate Michael Scott.

Best line of the episode:

"Drink the soap."

I'm the opposite. I'm having trouble picturing this show holding my interest next season.

As others have said, this was a good introduction to the character. Something did feel a bit...off, though.

Of all the schmoozing, I liked Stanley's the best. Think about it; this guy has barely cracked a smile over seven seasons and I'm not sure there was more than a few seconds last night when he was on screen where he didn't have the biggest shit-eating grin on his face.

I'm hit&miss with Ferrell, but expected to love him here. But his lines/parts were the weakest parts of the episode. A few of Erin's moments were LOL, and a couple Andy moments were ok, but overall a pretty mediocre episode.

Yeah, this episode was uncomfortable to watch...not funny at all.

As far as this show surviving without Michael Scott? I'd be surprised if it lasted beyond next season. Even with Steve Carell the writing for some of these episodes has been horrible.

This was even funnier because she actually said STATE senator herself (for the first time?) and Oscar couldn't say anything to correct her.

I agree with the last couple of posters. They have a tremendous supporting cast and an opportunity to showcase some of their talents. However, it really just feels awkward watching it. Knowing Carrell was on the way out, the writers really should have come up with a better way to write him out. Has there been any significant change with the writers this season? I'm not sure if they are just running out of ideas, or if they lost some key people. The overall tone of the show seems different. I hope things get back to normal once Carrell exits, but I'm not getting a good feeling about next season.

Honestly, I think this season, on the whole, has been a real return to form for The Office. Much better than the bulk of last season.

I liked it. Will Ferrell was funny and not completely over the top. Really did remind me of his character in The Other Guys. I liked the opening as that is totally something I see Michael Scott doing. I also liked the drink the soap line. Kevin's rug was great, too.

Re: The Office -- "Training Day" -- 4/14/11

I feel like there was an episode missing. We went from Michael announcing he was leaving to a new boss being brought in. We didn't really get to see the general reaction to Michael's announcement and wondering what would happen next. We went straight to everyone sucking up to the new boss. I'd still like to see how he got the job and what went into it. We know Dwight wanted it...but what about Jim (or even Darrell)? They could have had an episode showing everyone's reaction to the news.

All I have to say is I will be mighty upset if Toby doesn't return before Michael leaves.

Guess I was in the minority. I was laughing out loud for a lot of this. Erin on the phone, Andy's painful attempts to make Ferrell laugh. I thought it was quite entertaining.
