American Idol, Top 9, April 6/7 '11. Songs from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

http://www.tvgrapevine.com/pics5/Final_9.JPG

Top 9 theme: Songs from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Performances will be accompanied by Jeff Beck on guitar along with the American Idol band.

Wednesday, 8/7c: 90 minute performance show
Thursday, 8/7c: 60 minute results show with a performance by Constantine Maroulis (Season 4 finalist)

Constantine Maroulis

For weeks I’ve been saying that the final three would be Lauren Alaina, Scott McCreery, and Pia Toscano with Scott finishing in second and Lauren winning. Lauren still hasn’t repeated her earlier charm, I’m giving up on her. Now I think that it will end with Pia Toscano being in second and Scott McCreery winning. Third place is up in the air.

I hope Jacob goes home just for saying if you don't vote for him you're an a-hole.

Hell yeah.

The love from the judges for him just boggles my mind.

Yeah, that was just shockingly arrogant.

Also, seeing will.i.am coaching people on how to properly sing a song is absurdly hilarious.

Johnny Cash rolls over in his grave, laughing hysterically while puking a little bit.

These judges are totally fucking worthless. They'd heap praise on an obscenity-laced Tourette's syndrome outburst.

these past few weeks really make me miss Simon on there to tell these kids they butchered the song and sounded like crap.

I like Paul but that wasn't a good song choice for him.

They should stop calling them the "judges" and just start calling them the "praisers".

So what happened to Jeff Beck & Gwen Stafani? And why do we care about the balls of Ryan's feet? Why didn't anyone do an Aerosmith song? Why does Jacob keep performing in men's clothes?

I just don't get this show sometimes.

Pretty good show overall, my favorites were Haley and Pia.

They really need to get the crowd to stop shouting out at the contestants though, that one chick who screamed "I LOVE YOU (name)" for each contestant especially.

Yeah, wtf was that about? He was especially haughty and that is going to put him in the bottom 3, and maybe out the door. Some balls on this guy to refuse to do "Let's Get it On" because it's against his morals, but then do a song made famous by MICHAEL JACKSON. Pompous ass.

Paul was awful as usual. I just don't get his voice. Plus, he sang the song completely wrong. Do these kids even listen to the songs they sing?

The three girls were all pretty good tonight.

Scotty was better than I thought he would be. Regardless of who wins the show, he is going to be the most successful of this year's group.

Steven Tyler continues to be useless.

What the Goose said.

I kept waiting for someone to hold up a sign saying "Paul Is Dead" near the end of that horrible performance. I liked the guy's voice when they first picked him, but he's quickly demonstrated that he's a Johnny One-Note (almost literally). And the leg-kick reminds me of Elaine's "full-body dry-heave".

Bottom Two should be Jacob, Paul, and either Casey or Scotty.

I realize that AI producers signed Tyler to give the show some credibility & publicity (big name, R & R Hall of Famer, rock roots, etc.). But why is he so bad?

Is it that he's just cashing a fat paycheck while playing the "I'm too cool for this ****" card so he say to his fans & fellow rockers that he hasn't 'sold out'?

Or is he really as witless and ignorant as he appears?

I cannot stand Jacob on any level, and his arrogant little speech only validated my intense dislike. Send him home. Now.

My guess? Jacob's been reading Idol message boards all but calling him a ****. A lot of folks are assuming things about the guy--which may be true, but he hasn't confirmed it and unlike Adam Lambert, there are no photos of Jacob kissing other guys or wearing dresses. It's amazing how many women loved Adam, but label Jacob less than an alpha male.

If Jacob's comments are what causes him to be eliminated, then all I can do is laugh. They weren't that bad and there have been far bigger pompous jerks on this show.

Wouldn't surprise me. I'll be the first to say he gives a Tyler Perry-meets-gospel choir director vibe. But at the same time, basing opinion on him for that--which some Idol fans are doing--is a nasty thing to do.
