Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
I don't have it out for the show. I'm not even sure what that means to tell you the truth. I wouldn't have tuned in if I wasn't hoping to find a new show to get caught up in. I gave it two episodes and found nothing redeeming about it, just bad acting and writing. It's fine with me if you continue watching, I wasn't asking anyone to quit.

Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
It wasn't necessarily directed at you, but some of the comments from last week as well. I just felt as though some people came into this show with a negative attitude, looking for things to criticize. I don't think the acting or writing is bad; not perfect, but not bad. But like I said, to each his own.

I don't think the acting is bad. Granted the stars of this show aren't A-list TV actors (probably C list at best), but they have done a good job with the material given to them.
Laz Alonso (Charlie) is not a bad actor. He had a recurring role on Southland and a few other minor parts before he got this lead role. I'm not too familiar with Dom Lombardozzi (Ray), but I do remember he guest starred on the final season of 24. He has a very Italian Meathead persona, which IMO fits Ray well. |

As for Charlie, we'll never agree there. I thought he was horrible and it's hard to stick out in this bunch. He'd look bad on a soap opera. |
Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
The Erica story was too convenient - she gets handcuffed for wailing on Lloyd, but then is magically the key to finding the last victim. They suspect her for 5 murders, but since they couldn't prove it and they were bad guys she (may have) killed, well OK lets keep her on the team since she's such a good tracker, who apparently at the age of 12 was better than most US marshals?
I must have missed the backstory on Ray in the pilot... He was suspended and lost his badge for stealing $8250? But he's living in a halfway house (which he gets patted down for weapons before entering), but is allowed to carry a gun during his day job? (I missed bits of the pilot and this show so maybe I just missed something?) This show is a bit of Criminal Minds, a bit of White Collar, a bit of Leverage and a bit of lazy writing... might give it another show to see if it settles down but it seems a bit all over the place and I'm not sure I'm buying the main premise of the show. I also liked the Philly character and the idea of having a con artist on the team... so they replaced the con artist by adding a tracker specialist, which is like adding a US Marshall to the team (minus the baggage of being a potential 5 time killer with emotional issues). I would have preferred if they just brought on another person with a con artist background. If Erica was such a tracker savant, why wasn't she on the team to begin with? |

Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
I'm confused how they let Ray have a gun. I mean, I understand he got busted for stealing the money. He got in trouble. He lives in a halfway house and his weapon was taken away last episode. Now he's got a gun again in this episode. That doesn't make a ton of sense. But I guess when you think about it, when getting a bunch of cons together to hunt fugitives, the gun thing is small potatoes.

That new chick looks a little like Lindsay Lohan in the face. |

Yeah, I generally like the show but the core premise is just really stupid. They should've made them ex-cons or on probation or whatever. The new chick killed, what, five people?

Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
This show doesn't rate too high on the plausability factor, but I'm enjoying it so far. I like the cast and the character interactions.

Oh, I understand that. I'm just saying it's contradictory to incarcerate Ray, charge him as a criminal and then turn around and give him his gun back, but not as an officer of the law. Just not as far fetched as the concept of the show, but still bugs me a little.
Dom was also had that annoying guest role (Dom) on Entourage |

Are ex-cons even allowed to possess guns legally? And if he's in a halfway house I assume he's still on probation? (you would think would entail not owning a gun?)

Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
i don't think he meant possess as in own. possess as in handle for any period of time. to my knowledge, it's illegal in most states for a convicted felon to own a gun.

Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
i didn't like the cast changes from the pilot, but it's still not bad

Re: Breakout Kings -- "Collected" -- 3/13/11
Pardon me, I'm catching up on this show still...
