The Killing. From writer, executive producer and series showrunner Veena Sud (Cold Case), The Killing is based on the wildly successful Danish television series Forbrydelsen and tells the story of the murder of a young girl in Seattle and the subsequent police investigation. Season one will consist of thirteen one-hour episodes, each covering 1 day of the murder investigation.

The Killing ties together three distinct stories around a single murder including the detectives assigned to the case, the victim's grieving family, and the suspects. Set in Seattle, the story also explores local politics as it follows politicians connected to the case. As the series unfolds, it becomes clear that there are no accidents; everyone has a secret, and while the characters think they've moved on, their past isn't done with them.

The 4 minute trailer was released today. I've been looking forward to this since it was announced early last year. I like that it has a serialized story arc. Being that this is on AMC, I have little doubt that it will be great.

Looks interesting, but obviously we`ve all seen murder mysteries before, the trailer didn`t really give me a unique `hook`...the dad and the snotty kid with the big apartment seem like the main suspects.

I'll give it a shot.

If this is the same Danish TV series that was also adapted into a British TV series as well, then I'm pretty excited to see it. It's supposedly pretty darn good.

No HD on DirecTV, yet another AMC show I won't watch. Breaking Bad is the only exception to my stand against the lack of HD on DirecTV.

I'm getting tired of that end music piece. It's in EVERYTHING these days (Kick Ass just to name one).

And yeah, this doesn't seem like it's going to be all that original.

More AMC original programming (although not all that original since a remake). Anyway, yeah I'll tune in.

April is killing me with cable show premiers.

"From the network that brings you Mad Men and The Walking Dead." WTF, no shout out to Breaking Bad?

I like murder mysteries. The Murder One style "one case per season" is good too.

It is and it was pretty good until the final episode, which IMO completely ruined the entire season. What a worthless, lazy excuse of an ending. Way to crap all over the story and characters.

I think I'll wait with this one to see if they are able to end it better.

Are you talking about the Danish version?

I don't understand your 2nd statement. Your going to wait and read a spoiler on how this new series ends before watching it?

Are you serious? If they're gonna pick 2 of the 3, those two would be the obvious choices. Unless you just wanted them to throw Breaking Bad in at the end there just to have it there, and thereby make the sentence unnecessarily long.

Eh, just surprised they chose to leave it off. There's an easy way to include it if they wanted to. They only have 3 shows -- odd they chose to mention only 2 of them -- considering that BB is arguably their biggest critical darling (though most ratings-challenged).

Yes I am talking about the Danish version.

I won't necessarily read a spoiler but I'll see what the reaction to the ending is.
That's how much I hated the original ending.

Yay - another AMC show I can't watch in HD thanks to DirecTV.

Sounds interesting. Like others I wish DirecTV would start showing this channel in HD.

I like Mad Men and The Walking Dead, but Breaking Bad is easily the best show on AMC in my honest opinion.

Anyways I read about this show a couple days ago and think it sounds pretty interesting. AMC has had quality original series for the most part. I think the weakest was Rubicon but even that was okay. I'll set my DVR to record this series.

I think Mad Men and Breaking Bad are the defining shows at AMC.

Walking Dead was pretty good, but it ain't those other 2 shows. Let's give Walking Dead a little more than 6 episodes before we start praising it (this was not directed at you by the way). :)

There's your answer. 'Dead' is the highest-rated series AMC - and cable tv? -has ever had, and 'Mad Men' has entered the cultural lexicon where those who don't even watch the show - like me - at least know what it's about and that people love it. These promos are timed so tightly that they can't include everything so they go with their biggest shows to add a halo effect to this new one.

Honestly, new AMC series was enough for me. The only thing in recent years they've done that didn't work was the Prisoner remake, and even that had it's moments (I liked Ruth Wilson a lot in it).

Time to upgrade my programming to get AMC (ahem, in HD ;)). And my RSN for the baseball season.
