Synopsis:

Spoiler:
Jarek and Caleb arrive first on the scene at a bank robbery and chase the thief through the streets of Chicago only to find he has met a gruesome end. As the Chicago Police Department pieces together the clues of the robber, Superintendent Colvin conducts a critical meeting with Alderman Gibbons about a key construction site. Duplicitous politicking raises the stakes and further exposes the depth of corruption in the city.

Really liked tonight's episode. Gibbons sure is cunning. ;) Colvin's got a tough job ahead of her...

Fantastic episode. I LOVE the team of Colvin and Wysocki. Their interactions are really fun.

I sure hope this show can stick around.

WOW, great episode! Loved it! Driving and running through Chicago in the beginning was cool.

Delroy Lindo is great as well

Colvin still throws like a girl, though.

^ so true... Beals is still horribly miscast in this show (but she's improving a little each week).

 I think she's pretty great in the role. Maybe it's seeing her being a huge bitch on The L Word for years so I know she has that ability in her.

Gibbons' move by outing that guy was clever. I liked that Colving sniffed out the spy, too, so it's like a game of cat and mouse.

Yeah, I'm liking Beals in the role. Not getting the criticisms of her performance. Gibbons is definitely proving to be a worthy adversary and I love seeing him stay one step ahead. It makes for a much more compelling show. I think they're doing a good job balancing stand-alone episodes and a seasonal arch.

How is the show doing in the ratings?

it had a fairly good premiere, dropped the next week but was up this week. 8 million this past week, iirc.

Not bad, only shed 20% of its House lead-in ratings. Not sure what it did in the 18-49 demo, though.

I think FOX should be pleased with the 8M viewers per week for this show.

I didn't really buy into the whole "Serpico" storyline with the cop freezing out Wysocki. Wouldn't there be a big investigation as to why several units didn't respond to his distress call? And why would the guy confess about nearly getting a fellow cop killed in front of a roomful of witnesses?

Other than that, I thought is was a really strong episode. The opening scene with the robbery was fantastic. Delroy Lindo knocked it out of the park - loved the scene where he turned the tables on the Irish mob guy. In the first two episodes he just seemed like a slimy politician - this ep he was a real menace. I hope they flesh out his character in future episodes. The cat-and-mouse between him and Colvin could be really interesting.

^ completely agree. I think they took a little liberty with the freeze out storyline.

I still see Beals as the weak link in the show; I'm not sure if it's her or how they are writing the character but she seems not even remotely in the same league as Colvin or Wysocki and still doesn't seem to have a presence that you would think someone in that position would have.

And if Colvin falls for the 'let's pretend to end the investigation in front of the new chief of staff so he passes it on to Colvin' trick, I will be disappointed as the Colvin character took a major step froward in terms of being a formidable bad guy.

This show is definitely improving week after week. Even though the storylines aren't always the most compelling they keep the pace going so that by the end I keep expecting more to come after a commercial break.

I completely agree. In fact, I think this may have helped the character had it been in the first episode. There we just had a small indication that he was manipulating the lawyer and his motivations weren't clear. Here, all his scenes were great. She now has proof he's trying to manipulate people for his aims, but it came with a big cost. Also, I think a scene with Colvin yelling down her former aid could have been good for her character. Especially since that mug throw was pretty weak. At least break a window!

Sorry--I think she looks absolutely ridiculous, like when she showed up to the crime scene in that Admiral uniform, I seriously can't help laughing. Watching a show like Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck in that role, and it's really no comparison at all. Other than her, I like the show.

 Pretty solid episode. Probably the most comelling storyline so far.

The opening robbery scene with Wysocki and Evers pursuing the suspect through the streets and train was very well executed.

 at Colvin walking to the scene looking like someone from McHale's Navy. Other than that, I have enjoyed Beals in the character.

I also didn't buy the whole freezing out story. Wysocki puts in a distress call under heavy gunfire to the Police dispatch which is heard and recorded and noone shows up? I would think there would be some sort of major internal affairs investigation for that.

 Delroy Lindo was great. Loved how he turned the tables on the Irish Mob guy who threatened him.

Liked Colvin and Wysocki "acting" in front of Gibbons mole.

As someone else mentioned shes just horribly miscast here. Compare her to Glenn Close' work on The Shield or even CCH Pounder. They owned those roles. With Beals you never believe for one second that she is that character. Its like putting a little girl in a gorilla suit. It just doesn't work on any level.

Its also a problem when the "bad guy" is more likable than the protagonist.

Maybe it's because I've never really seen her in anything else that I recall, but I have no problem with Beals in this role. I think she's very believable.

Having just seen the finale of Friday Night Lights in the past few weeks, it's much more jarring seeing Matt Lauria, who portrayed a Texas high school student a few weeks ago and is now playing a detective in the Chicago PD. Even that doesn't really bother me though.

I have been so spoiled by cable that lately I rarely, if ever, can get into a network drama such as this, but I just caught up on the three episodes and I'm loving it. Jason Clarke is really good and I'm going to search out his Showtime show Brotherhood. I'm sticking with it and I hope it can last if the quality stays high.

My favorite part was when Wysocki confronted the commish about what Moose accused him of.

Commish: Did he hurt your feelings? Did he make you cry?

Wysocki kinda smirks, hesitates and says "No." I just loved that interaction. I'm loving this show not to mention I was born and raised in Chicago and the city never looked better. :)

 I had NO clue this was not the pilot ep.. I have no idea how I missed the other eps to the point I did not even know they were being aired...

soooooooo I'm going "Wow they really hit the ground running fast, I have no idea who any of these people even are! What a strange pilot ep".. Whoops.. That being said, pretty good show. Cast seems to click and I'll tune in again..

I agree that Beal's seems a little out of place on the show but I'm not really sure why.. She's an ok actor and I've seen a lot of other cop shows with female's playing the role of captain etc.. I don't know, maybe need to see her in a few more ep and then it will be no big deal..
