Interesting twist with Danny, I never saw it coming. Of course I've never watched the UK version to know if that's how they did it.

It is pretty much the same as how they did it in the UK version.

In the UK version, Owen, Annie's boyfriend pushed down her the stairs during argument about a pair of underwear she had and he accused her of being unfaithful etc. In the UK version the argument was a bit more vague. There are a couple things the U.S. version has done differently. In the UK version, the new girlfriend wasn't really a friend of Annie's and she and Owen were seeing each other while Annie was alive.
