Deadwood is far and away my favorite TV series ever. That being said, I think the shipped has sailed and they should move on.
Its just been too much time and it would be very hard for me to look past the time gap

No question that it's been a long time, but I trust the people that would be involved to only do it if there will be a quality product at the end.

Another month, another promising Deadwood movie update — and this one comes directly from two members of the beloved HBO drama’s ensemble.
Appearing in TVLine’s Comic-Con interview suite on Thursday, Deadwood alums Kim Dickens (Joanie Stubbs) and Dayton Callie (Charlie Utter) — who were on hand promoting Fear the Walking Dead — both revealed that HBO recently reached out to the principal cast regarding the long-gestating mini-revival.
“They’ve called for our availability,” Dickens told me, prompting Callie to chime in: “Mine, too!”
The news comes roughly three months after Deadwood leading man Ian McShane (Al Swearengen) divulged to TVLine that series creator David Milch delivered to HBO the two-hour movie script. “We’d all love to do it,” he declared. “It would be nice to see all of the old gang again.”
It’s worth noting that HBO has yet to formally give a green light to the project. A rep for the cabler declined to comment for this story.
As previously reported, Milch is currently working on a potential third season of True Detective with the anthology drama’s creator Nic Pizzolatto.

Yeah, Garrett Dillahunt periodically hints at this on social media as well. I hope we get an official statement from HBO soon either way.

So you’re looking at potentially 2 years minimum before this would air.

So Powers Boothe is dead and Jeffrey Jones has been exiled from Hollywood. Hopefully everyone else returns.

even though its been a dogs age since the show aired, I have been looking forward to some kind of movie for just as long! Hope the movie happens. (and we don't lose any more of the cast.)

Kim Dickens:

“Well, I’ll tell you, next up, looks like all signs are go to do the Deadwood movie this fall,” Dickens said to cheers from the audience. “I’m not giving an official release on this or anything, but yeah, they’re locking us down.”
The critically-acclaimed HBO series counted Timothy Olyphant, Ian McShane, Molly Parker, Anna Gunn, and Dickens among its expansive cast, as well as Dickens’ eventual Fear co-stars Dayton Callie (Jeremiah Otto) and Garret Dillahunt (John Dorie).
McShane said last April a “two-hour movie script has been delivered to HBO” from creator David Milch. That October, Dickens told ComicBook.com she heard talks of a fall 2018 shooting date, noting at the time the date was “not official.”
This April, the long-in-the-works movie nabbed a $4.195 million California tax incentive, signaling an intention by HBO to produce the movie. News of the tax credit came just a handful of months after HBO president Casey Bloys confirmed a fall 2018 production start was being eyed for the long asked-for revival of the popular series.
“Assuming that we could get all the actors back together, I think this is something we would do possibly next fall, fall 2018 … I’m waiting for a rewrite, and we have to get the numbers right … assuming we can get everybody back together, I’m feeling optimistic about it,” Bloys said.
As reported by Deadline, California Film Commission regulations say a film or TV series generally must start principal photography within 180 days of tax credit approval to receive it — which would put cameras rolling on Deadwood by the start of October.

thats fantastic! In honesty I half expected to read another actor from the show just died making this less likely a go. I would love to see closure on this amazing series!

Yeah I saw that on Talking Dead. Which then made me wonder if part of the reason she was axed from the show is that she would have potentially had conflict with filming Deadwood. If they already were thinking about it, having to work around a conflict may have pushed them over the edge.
