so sick of all the streaming services carrying one show that i want to see.... I wish there was bundling like with cable companies as someone else mentioned earlier or a'la carte viewing of shows on these services. I wouldn't mind to see Discovery or this, but I don't see myself paying for the privilege or wanting the hassle of canceling after some short free trial....

Its worth the monthly cost to get to hear another version of the terrible song, "baby, can you dig your man".

James Marsden is circling the role of Stu Redman In The Stand, the CBS Studios/CBS All Access limited series adaptation of the classic Stephen Kinghorror novel. Josh Boone (The Fault In Our Stars) is directing the nine episode arc that he’s scripted with Ben Cavell, based on the post-apocalyptic horror novel by King that vividly outlines the total breakdown of society after the accidental release of a strain of influenza that had been modified for biological warfare and causes an apocalyptic pandemic which kills off the majority of the world’s human population.
Played in the 1994 miniseries adaptation by Gary Sinise, Redman is a former military man who is immune to the virus. He found patient zero in the original quarantine zone but never got sick so the government was precious with him in order to try to find a vaccine from his blood.

Huge news for Stephen King‘s upcoming limited series version of The Stand.
CBS All Access revealed Thursday that four key roles have been cast, plus King is writing new material for the finale of the 10-episode series that will go beyond the story in his apocalyptic 1978 novel.
First the casting, some of which confirms previous reports of actors who were in talks for the roles:
James Marsden (Westworld) will portray Stu Redman, “an ordinary working-class factory man in an extraordinary situation with a damaged quality to him that belies his exterior.”
Amber Heard (Aquaman) will play Nadine Cross, “a deeply conflicted woman who feels the consequences of her actions, but is still compelled by her allegiance to Randall Flagg, the Dark Man.”
Odessa Young (A Million Little Pieces) will play Frannie Goldsmith, “a pregnant young woman navigating a strange new world, who also has the foresight to recognize that there is evil lurking beyond the Dark Man.”
Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) will portray Nick Andros, “a young deaf and mute man who finds himself in a position of authority when the unthinkable happens. He has a habit of risking his own well-being for the safety of others.”
But perhaps the biggest news for King-philes is that the author himself will pen the show’s finale, and it will include “a new coda that won’t be found in the book” that will reveal more about what happened to the survivors. (Presumably, they mean books, as The Stand was originally released in one form and then was re-released an expanded version with 500 additional pages).
The Stand tells the story of a plague that wipes out 99 percent of the population with the survivors embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The novel was previously adapted into a well-regarded ABC miniseries in 1994. There’s no premiere date for the new series yet.

when I saw it was someone from Westworld I was hoping it was the guy that plays William (Jimmi Simpson) as he seems a better fit for Stu, James Marsden would make a better Nick Andros (Rob Lowe in the original)
Pretty exciting that King is doing the finale and adding a coda to the book. That is one story I wish had a sequel to see how people might live in post superflu world but I'd be surprised if it goes very deep into that territory. With Picard coming to that network there is a very good chance I will actually get to watch this as until now it wasnt worth picking up for just Discovery...

Wonder if this means they're not looking at just a miniseries that adapts the book, but an ongoing series that continues they story.

In the end they all get trapped under a dome.
That casting description for Nadine is interesting especially given Amber Heard's recent troubles.

I assume this would be right after Discovery finishes the S3 run.

Disco will probably end its third season on January 7 unless they're going to release more than one episode per week. Historically, they've stuck to a weekly schedule for all of their Trek series.

I understand the why, but I'm not a fan of the series starting with them already in Colorado and then telling the story through flashbacks. The majority of the story is the journey everyone goes through to get there both individually at first and then in groups.

Looks like one of those series where they do the flashbacks so they can add more later as the series progresses. As long as Stephen King gives it a go I won't complain too much, but I have to wonder.

Despite its made-for-tv limitations, I love the original mini-series.
I would love to see how this turns out but I’m not too keen on getting CBS All Access to do so. How do these things usually play out? Is there going to be another way to access this eventually?

I've always thought of Harold as looking like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys.
