I think it's funny, and I am an east coast guy. I didn't get that they were mocking that specific mayor, but I still thought it was humorous. Some of the skits just die for me, but I thought the "put a bird on it" skit was one of my favorites.

Are there guys with goatees that ride bikes in Portland lol?
That is probably the only character I did not get.
Armison must have huge balls to dress up as a girl and let Carrie do him from behind.

Because I live in Portland, this really hits home for me. But I keep wondering, does anyone outside the Pacific Northwest like or understand the humor? To me, it seems pretty specific. For example, the portrayal of the mayor in the last episode (bringing MLB to Portland) seems a spot-on satire of the behavior of Portland's mayor Sam Adams. And the bringing major league baseball to Portland especially ironic because Portland just lost its Triple-A baseball team partly because (in my opinion) of the incompetence of the mayor and city council.
I think every city/area has these type of people. The people who dress up ever so slightly over the top or not enough to give the impression is was just "thrown together" but took 30 minutes to organize.
It does travel well.

I think the humor is pretty universal. I used to watch the Seattle-based sketch comedy "Almost Live!" back when I lived in Michigan and thought it was hilarious. Admittedly I find it even funnier now that I live out here and understand the somewhat dated in-jokes a little better.

The "aggressive" biker is definitely a type. I think the funniest line of the series so far is Armison on the bike saying, "Cars, man. Why?" In three words, it nails an entire subculture.

Surprised nobody posted a thread on the season 2 premiere.
"Every time you say the word 'unit' or 'box' or 'equipment,'" "I feel a penis here, I feel a penis here, I feel a penis here — I am halfway to pregnant."

I loved the Battlestar Galactica parts in this last episode. Olmos was great
Liked the Eddie Vedder tattoo as well.

The second episode was awesome. Loved the fire pit tribal dance cutaways and the music queue every time the EV tattoo showed up.

The restaurant scene was great, I watched it like 4 times already.

The second episode was great. Ronald D. Moore was really good in it. Haha.

Yep. Almost Live went national with Comedy Central. I remember watching it in Florida on vacation wondering if our local jokes really translated nationwide.

When did they film the last episode? It must have been years ago because Amber Tamblyn was so young in the episode.

Watched my first episode ever, the season 3 premiere "Winter in Portlandia." The searching-for-the-sun thing was pretty amusing since I'm in the same region. Some other funny bits as well, though the pasta thing hit a little too close to home for me.
Not a show I'll seek out, but I was entertained.

New episodes are on.
This show is still funny. It's making fun of New Yorker/Portland/San Francisco culture. You'd think it'd run out after awhile. But they still have very good sketches. Watching too many episodes at once can get annoying.
For the lazy, here is a full embedded episode from Hulu...
