I don't think they're aware of it every time. Like this episode, Leslie throws Jerry's painting into the water thinking she's freeing him from something horrible and leading him to the promised land (Parks & Rec dept.). She's oblivious to the fact he loves to paint. She's shitting on Jerry even though she thinks she's doing something nice... just like her reffering to Jerry to get his testicles checked. I've seen this numerous times in other episodes as well.

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Modern Family, but I actually thought Parks And Recreation was a lot funnier.
What's funny is that Parks And Recreation and The Office both started off with a shaky first season then really hit their stride in the second season. Parks And Recreation is off to a good start in the third season so far, hopefully it continues for the rest of the season.

Your post of...
...seemed to be an attempt to correct the rest of us who were spelling it Jerry. I responded with the actual spelling of the character's name.
Now you show an image from the show with no real explanation.
So either your original post was referencing that episode, which seems highly unlikely given the way your first post comes across.
OR
The joke in that image, that people can't be bothered to spell his first or last name correctly, went over your head.

I recently started to watch this show and like it. Rob Lowe is a great addition to the cast.

The spelling is even more unintentional shitting on Jerry.
Family Guy does the same thing (intentional or unintentional) when they shit on Meg every episode. I wonder if this will be a thing with sitcoms, where there's a character who's always treated like dirt... much like many sitcoms have a moron, a pervert, a straight-laced character, etc.
I was sure Rob Lowe would hurt the show, but so far his character doesn't really bother me. He's kinda funny in his always-positive attitude and his constant stating of other people's names (ie. "Anne Perkins!"). I hope this doesn't get old quick.
Also, I didn't think much of her when the series started, but I'm finding Rashida Jones cuter as the series goes on.

I never noticed the misspelling of Jerry's name on the telethon show. I agree it was probably done to show how everyone picks on Jerry. The only time Jerry wasn't picked on was in the hunting episode, I thought Leslie and the others could have easily blamed Jerry for shooting Ron but they didn't.
