Does anybody remember the name of this animated Christmas special that was on TBS?
 

It might not have been exclusive to TBS, but it aired on TBS around the 93-94 holiday season.

It involves an orphanage run by a mean woman, and they are interested in decorating a huge tree that's outside their building for Christmas. Something happens that involves people wanting to chop it down, and in the end, the mean old lady becomes nice.

Sorta vague, but...that's about all I remember.

Update to this (albeit well over a year late). It does not hold up well AT ALL. Voice acting is terrible, all the animation is done in the form of close-ups to save on actually moving the characters about the scene, oh my.

You have to watch one of these poorer animated Christmas specials every once in a while to remind oneself why programs like Frosty and Rudolph are such classics.

It was the Rankin/Bass one; and I watched it right after I heard the sad news of Rankin's passing. I should have watched one of the classics, but decided to see one I hadn't seen before.

I recall it airing on USA occasionally. Saw the DVD at a thrift store recently and considered buying it just for the hell of it, but decided to leave my memories of it in the past. Turns out, it's developed a cult following in recent years as the "worst Christmas special ever".
