Psych meets Twin Peaks "Dual Spires" 12/01/10
Psych pays homage to the 20th anniversary of Twin Peaks with "Dual Spires," a supersize episode that finds kooky crimebusters Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dule Hill) investigating the murder of a high-school girl in a quaint mountain town. It's David Lynch all the way — from the corpse wrapped in plastic to the guest cast, which includes Peaks veterans Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Dana Ashbrook, Robyn Lively, Lenny Von Dohlen, Ray Wise and even "Log Lady" Catherine Coulson.
"This reunion was a great gift because a lot of us had lost touch — we had a blast!" says Lee (original corpse Laura Palmer). Psych creator Steve Franks says he's wanted to do this tribute for years. "Twin Peaks was so bold and influential and spat in the face of everything we thought about television," notes the executive producer. "We all bow at the altar of Lynch. Nothing would make us more depressed than him hating this episode!"

Can't wait! Kind of wished it were around last week; it was missed.
Never watched Twin Peaks, but looking forward to this episode nonetheless.

I intended to record and watch later, but the introduction pulled me in. The writers seem to have really put a lot of thought into this homage. I hope the rest of the episode doesn't disappoint.

I never watched Twin Peaks, but there were many things I guessed were the homages to the show. As a standalone, I thought it was a good episode, so I can only imagine how great it must have been for a Psych AND Twin Peaks fan, or even just a Twin Peaks fan.
I'm wondering how odd this Shawn/Jules thing could become, although they did a pretty good job of keeping it light. I hope it doesn't fall into traps that other shows have with similar situations.

Yes, I agree. Not only did the scene connect so specifically to Twin Peaks, but it also reminded me of the final scene of Inland Empire. A 2010 USA Network comedy is the last place I expected to see a bona fide Lynch tribute.
Is Psych always this good? I'll admit to being drawn to this episode specifically because of Twin Peaks, but is the humor similar in standard episodes?

Yes. The show has its miss episodes, but it's mostly hit.
Probably the best Intro recreation yet though.
"Untimely death, a psychic and a black man all in the same day."
"Was Randy Jackson with you the night Paula died?"

"The only thing that would make it grosser is if she wasn't attractive."
I'm also someone who hasn't seen Twin Peaks and I thought the episode played fine anyway. I'm somewhat familiar with some of the TP tropes but realized a lot of stuff was going over my head.

For the hell of it, heres the original Twin Peaks intro as well as the Psych one, actually the intro alone covers a lot of what Twin Peaks was about

Loved it all last night. All the TP references were great. The girl doing that robot dance in the diner at the end reminded of the kid that mookwalks out of frame in Twin Peaks when they are at the school in the pilot.
